Blackbird Interactive is seeking a passionate Character Artist to join our team on an upcoming first-person narrative thriller.

Do you have a broad range of creative and technical experience creating and implementing characters in Unreal Engine 5? Are you skilled at creating art under a strong technical brief? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

At BBI, we’re a creative-fueled, future-driven, independent game studio where top talent can grow their careers while working on both world-class IPs and original creations across multiple genres. You’ll join a fast-moving team developing the second installment of a new IP.

Responsibilities

  • Create and develop character art using Unreal Engine 5 and Metahuman
  • Work with the Creative Leads to author immersive content for an FPS game
  • Problem-solve and support tools and tech development to achieve visual and performance targets in engine
  • Monitor deliverable progress, manage assigned scope and requested changes, and follow through on commitments
  • Ensure assets meet technical requirements for Unreal Engine 5
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, while collaborating effectively within the team and taking ownership of problems
  • Document tools and production pipelines in a clear and understandable way


Requirements

  • 2+ years of proven gameplay development experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multidisciplinary project teams and adapt to changing priorities throughout the product life cycle
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 5 and Metahuman
  • Demonstrated experience with Zbrush, Substance, and other character art tools


Pluses

  • Technical character set up skills a plus
  • Some understanding of vertex animation and mesh morph targets
