Breakthrough T1d is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager/Scrum Master to join our Technology Project Management Office (PMO). In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing IT projects according to strict deadlines and within budget and ensure Agile best practices, facilitating scrum ceremonies while aligning projects with organizational objectives. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to deliver high quality technology solutions on time and within scope. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Waterfall Agile, SDLC, and hybrid methodologies and thrives in environments where process improvement, change management, and stakeholder collaboration are key.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end IT project execution, from initiation to closure, ensuring adherence to PMO governance framework.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk management strategies
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, business units, and technology teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational project management standards and methodologies
  • Provide regular project status reports to PMO leadership and key stakeholders
  • Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and changes, ensuring proactive resolution
  • Ensure project documentation, artifacts, and lessons learned are captured for continuous improvement
  • Lead and motivate cross-functional project teams, fostering collaboration and high performance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the PMO processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging project management practices.
  • Coordinate project resources and ensure optimal allocation of people, tools, and technologies.
  • Manage project budgets, ensuring costs remain aligned with estimates and any deviations are flagged early.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational processes and frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
  • Track project performance using appropriate tools and metrics, providing regular updates and action plans for improvement.

Scrum Master Responsibilities

Facilitate Scrum Ceremonies:

  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives.
  • Ensure all Scrum events are effective and that team members engage fully in the process.

Team Coaching & Support

  • Serve as a coach and mentor to the Agile team, fostering collaboration and self-organization.
  • Provide guidance on Agile best practices and ensure the Scrum framework is followed.
  • Help the team to continuously improve their processes and performance through regular feedback and retrospectives.

Remove Impediments

  • Proactively identify and remove obstacles that hinder team progress and productivity.
  • Act as a point of contact for resolving conflicts or issues that arise within the team or between stakeholders.

Collaboration With Product Owner

  • Work closely with the product owner to ensure the backlog is well-groomed, prioritized, and ready for the team to work on.
  • Help the product owner clarify user stories, acceptance criteria, and ensure the team understands the goals of each sprint.

Agile Process Improvement

  • Continuously assess and improve Agile practices within the team and the PMO.
  • Use metrics (e.g., velocity, burn-down charts) to monitor team progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure the team delivers high-quality outputs on time while maintaining Agile principles.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Act as a liaison between the Scrum team and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and managing expectations.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, team performance, and any challenges to management.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify and communicate risks or issues that could affect the delivery of the sprint or the project.
  • Work with the team and stakeholders to mitigate risks and resolve issues.

Foster Continuous Learning

  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and knowledge-sharing within the team.
  • Promote Agile training and development opportunities for team members.

Agile Adoption and PMO Alignment

  • Ensure teams align with PMO standards, governance, and Agile framework to maintain consistency across projects
  • Track key Agile metrics (velocity, burndown charts, team health) for PMO progress reporting to leadership
  • Advocate for Agile best practices across the organization and contribute to Agile transformation initiatives
  • Assist in scaling methodologies, working with other Scrum Masters to implement Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), LeSS, or other framework as needed
  • Support risk management, dependencies, and stakeholder communication to align Agile projects with business objectives.

Stakeholder & Change Management

  • Act as liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment with organizational goals
  • Support training and change management initiatives to drive adoption of new technologies
  • Partner with vendors and external consultants to ensure seamless integration of IT solutions

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certification (CSM, PSM) preferred.
  • Additional Agile certification (e.g. SAFe, LeSS) are a plus

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager or Scrum Master in an IT environment, preferably within a PMO.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and enterprise project management tools
  • Experience in coaching and facilitating Agile teams, with a strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and handling multiple stakeholders

Skills

  • Knowledge of project governance, risk management, and enterprise Agile adoption
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid).
  • Strong understanding of Agile principles and Scrum practices.
  • Background in software development, IT projects, or digital transformation initiatives
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams and foster collaboration and self-organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remove obstacles to team success.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Monday.com, Smartsheet, MS Project etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Targeted Salary Range: $145-$160K
