Canada
Hiring from: Canada
Department: Product
Location: Remote Canada
Compensation: $120,000 - $180,000 / year
As the first Product Researcher at AgencyAnalytics, you will be a key strategic partner working directly with the Director of Product Design, the company founders, and PMs and Designers across the company. You’ll lead in-depth qualitative research to uncover deep customer insights and validate new product and feature ideas. This role is critical as it bridges the gap between user needs and business objectives, ensuring that our product investments and design strategies are evidence-based and aligned with market desires. You'll collaborate across multiple product squads, driving high-priority research projects and providing clarity that informs the company’s direction.
AgencyAnalytics enables digital marketing agencies by streamlining client reporting and scaling their efforts through data & automation. We are an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and collaborative team working towards transforming the way that marketing agencies are supported - and we’re only getting started!
What You'll Do
- Drive Research Ownership: Formulate and implement research plans with a high degree of autonomy, while aligning with overarching research objectives set by the leadership.
- Conduct Qualitative Research: Lead user interviews and focus groups to uncover both explicit and latent needs, ensuring research methods are tailored to answer specific questions.
- Prototype and Wireframe: Develop basic, low-fidelity mock-ups using Figma to visually communicate concepts and facilitate discussions with research participants (UI design expertise is NOT needed).
- Evaluate Product Concepts: Design and execute evaluative studies on new product and feature ideas to assess their desirability, viability, and alignment with customer expectations.
- Synthesize Insights: Integrate findings from multiple qualitative sources (and some quantitative data) to create compelling, evidence-based narratives that guide product strategy.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with product, design, and leadership teams to extract and refine key research questions and ensure research findings are actionable.
- Communicate Effectively: Present clear, concise, and visually engaging research reports and presentations to stakeholders across the organization.
- Experience: 5-7+ years in UX research / product research / design research or a similar role, with a proven track record in conducting qualitative studies that drove specific, measurable product and design improvements.
- Methodological Expertise: Deep knowledge of qualitative research methodologies (interviews, contextual inquiry, concept testing, usability testing, etc.) and the ability to select the right method(s) for various research questions. Familiarity with basic quantitative data analysis is helpful as well.
- Basic Design Skills: Competence in using Figma for basic wireframing and prototyping, with the ability to create clear, low-fidelity mock-ups to support research initiatives.
- Analytical & Synthesizing Skills: Exceptional ability to analyze and synthesize disparate data into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
- Communication: Strong written, visual, and oral communication skills with a knack for delivering research findings succinctly and persuasively.
- Facilitation Skills: Demonstrated expertise in facilitating user interviews and discussions, with an aptitude for uncovering unknown insights.
- Autonomy & Initiative: A self-starter with high agency, comfortable taking ownership of projects, and skilled at translating vague objectives into comprehensive research plans.
- Collaboration: Ability to work cross-functionally, supporting multiple product squads and contributing to high-stakes, complex projects with minimal guidance.
- ‘Just-Enough-Research’ Mindset: You have a strong command of the balance between rigour and speed, and deeply understand the relationship between risk and certainty. You know when to apply light, scrappy research and when to dig deep and prioritize precision and accuracy
Tooling & Budget: Great researchers need great tools, which is why you’ll have access to…
- A state-of-the-art research repository, complete with AI analysis and synthesis capabilities
- Powerful UX research platforms like Maze and UXTweak
- Research participant recruitment tools and a budget to incentivize participation
Supportive Leadership: Senior leadership across the company is bought-in to the power of research. You’ll have strong organizational support to conduct high-impact research.
Operational Support: Our team also has a dedicated Product Research Specialist, responsible for assisting with research participant recruitment and tool administration, so you can spend more of your time focused on planning research, collecting data, and presenting findings that drive impact.
High-Performance Design Team: Our Product Design team of seven includes diverse skill-sets and career journeys, all dedicated to our craft and to creating exceptional products and experiences for our users.
Growing & Independent Company: AgencyAnalytics is founder-led, profitable, and our growth is funded by those profits—the company has never taken outside investment, so we’re free to focus on what’s best for our customers and our business.
Compensation
Our base salary for this role ranges from $120,000 to $180,000CAD. Compensation is determined by factors such as market salary data within Canada, technical skills, previous work history, and internal pay equity. Many positions also include additional variable compensation, which our Talent Acquisition team will discuss with you during the interview process.
AgencyAnalytics is an equal-opportunity employer and is committed to providing an accessible recruitment process. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals and are committed to equal employment opportunities regardless of gender identity or expression, race, ethnic origin, creed, place of origin, age, sex, marital status, physical or cognitive need, sexual orientation, and any other category protected by law.
