This Role Will Focus On

Based in the greater Toronto Area and responsible for developing and supporting the Process Industries sector in Ontario Canada. The Sales Engineer's role is to serve our customers and prospects by identifying their needs and applying Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions products to assist them making process improvements. The position is accountable for the entire sales process from lead generation through close while conducting business in accordance with WMFTS's core values. The Sales Engineer will leverage their technical background and experience to influence the customer throughout the sales process. Travel throughout the Ontario is required for this role.


Job Responsibilities

  • Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing relationships with prospects, customers, and other influencers.
  • Sustains relationships to ensure strong customer satisfaction and WMFTS brand loyalty.
  • Offer tailored fluid handling solutions through a consultative sales approach.
  • Prospect new business while maintaining current customer base by organizing sales calls using effective time management.
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition of the full range of WMFTS product brands to the Industrial sector Work with the Sales Manager to establish targets and develop sales strategies that are in line with the WMFTS group strategy for growth.
  • Monitor and advance the project pipeline, from initial design phase to production, ensuring all inquiries are followed up in a timely manner. Factors that could impact the outcome of a sale are understood and strategically assessed and actioned.
  • Act as Project leader to manage all aspects of a customer's experience with WMFTS.
  • Administer & maintain accurate records on CRM system. Follow up on all leads in a timely manner.
  • Provide market intelligence, competitor and industry trends to management to contribute to accurate reporting and forecasting.
  • Establish relationships with engineering firms in your assigned territory to provide support and encourage WMFTS product specification on all future projects.
  • Work with trade show and exhibition visitors to determine their needs and then present WMFTS value proposition to meet their needs.
  • Conduct lunch & learns and other events at customer sites to better educate the market on the value of the entire WMFTS product portfolio. Focus on End users, consulting Engineers, OEMS, Chemical vendors and third party Integrators.
  • Contribute to the honing of our marketing message, operational improvement, and new product development through voice of customer feedback and ongoing communication of successes, failures, and opportunities within the territory.
  • Provide market intelligence, competitor, and industry trends to management to contribute to accurate reporting and forecasting.
  • Administer & maintain accurate records in the CRM system.


This is what you’ll need to be successful in this role

  • Degree/diploma in a STEM field with 5 years + direct outside sales experience in Ontario mandatory.
  • Have a proven track record of selling premium products using a consultative sales process.
  • Experience selling into the Industrial sector with an emphasis on Consulting Engineers/ OEM’s/Integrators/High value end users.
  • Exceptional oral and written English language communication skills required to communicate with internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high professionalism.
  • Proficient in Windows applications and Microsoft Office programs such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Physical Demands

    • Mobility: This is a remote position that primarily requires sitting at a desk or computer workstation for extended periods, with occasional need to stand or move around to maintain health and well-being. Ability to regularly operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
    • Vision and Hearing: Ability to use a computer and read documents. Effective communication skills to interact with colleagues and clients through video conferencing tools.
    • Dexterity: Basic hand dexterity for typing and using computer peripherals
