Website Product Designer (6-Month Contract)

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly creative and strategic Website Product Designer to join our product team. This role goes beyond typical marketing design — we’re looking for a systems thinker and visual designer who can craft modular, scalable website templates and design systems that support performance, accessibility, and SEO.

The ideal candidate is experienced in working closely with developers, is confident in Figma, and uses data to guide continuous iteration. You’ll collaborate across teams to deliver user-friendly, conversion-optimized designs that also meet technical and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Template Design: Design visually engaging, modular website templates that align with our brand and meet client needs across multiple industries.
• Design System Ownership: Build and maintain design systems that scale across templates and components.
• Data-Informed Iteration: Use analytics, heatmaps, SEO reports, and A/B testing results to continually optimize designs for conversion, usability, and performance.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, developers, and content designers to implement responsive, accessible designs within a collaborative development environment.
• Prototyping: Create interactive prototypes in Figma to demonstrate functionality and user flow.
• Design QA: Support implementation by reviewing builds and ensuring design consistency across breakpoints.
• Accessibility: Incorporate accessibility best practices into all design work.
• Documentation: Create and maintain design documentation to ensure design standards are clearly communicated and easy to implement.

Required Skills & Experience

• Expert proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, auto-layout, and prototyping
• Strong portfolio showcasing web and UI design work
• Demonstrated experience creating or contributing to scalable design systems
• Ability to translate data (heatmaps, GA4, user behavior) into meaningful design improvements
• Experience collaborating in agile or cross-functional product teams
• Strong understanding of typography, layout, hierarchy, and responsive design principles
• Creative problem-solving and a user-centric mindset
• Excellent communication skills, especially around design decisions and trade-offs
• Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 /2.2 standards

Nice to Have

• Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment
• Experience using tools like: Sketch, Canva, InVision or Adobe XD
• Familiarity with HTML/CSS and how designs are implemented in code
• Basic understanding of technical SEO principles (e.g., Core Web Vitals, semantic markup)
• Experience with accessibility tools and audits (e.g., Axe, Lighthouse)
• Basic understanding of Google Analytics
• Ability to clearly communicate gaps between effective and ineffective designs
• Experience working with AI prompts
