What you'll be doing in the role of Participant Engagement Manager

The primary objective of the Participant Engagement Manager is to ensure that individuals from diverse populations of breast cancer survivors and people living with metastatic breast cancer fully enroll in and remain engaged over time with ShareForCures (SFC), Komen’s breast cancer research registry.

What You Will Bring To The Table

  • With the support of the senior director, data science and other experts, lead the development and implementation of a strategy and related tactics to facilitate conversion of individual leads generated by the SFC cross-functional recruitment team into fully enrolled participants. Oversee communications with individuals to guide them through the onboarding process to become fully enrolled participants.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a retention strategy and related tactics that facilitate the ongoing, long-term participation of individuals from diverse populations of breast cancer survivors and people living with metastatic breast cancer in SFC.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of SFC participants, including assignment of tasks to participants and utilization of dashboards and other channels and forums to communicate and share information about SFC, other Komen programs, and other research opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other teams, as needed, to support lead generation and the overall recruitment strategy and increase the visibility of SFC. Provide input and support for the implementation of communication plans and creation of materials/collateral and participate in internal and external events.
  • Contribute to the development of SOPs and other documentation required to support participation in SFC. Ensure all activities follow conducting research with human subjects and with all Komen’s policies and procedures. Review and resolve issues and escalate significant issues to Sr. Director, Data Science as needed.
  • Manage relationships with and activities of external advisors, committees, focus groups, and working groups in support of SFC, as assigned. Oversee planning, coordination and reporting of meetings and ensure that Sr. Director, Data Science and other members of SFC cross-functional recruitment team are kept apprised of perspectives and insights from these advisors and groups, to inform the development and implementation of SFC.
  • In collaboration with the evaluation team, contribute to the development of milestones, metrics, and measurable outcomes for SFC. Prepare reports as needed, to ensure internal and external stakeholders are apprised of progress and impact.
  • Keep current and knowledgeable of industry/other organizations’ activities, best practices, and community perspectives on issues related to participation in research and use of health data. Identify emerging issues/trends and potential opportunities for collaboration, sponsorship, position statements and/or policy development.
  • Manage the performance of direct reports against key performance indicators and metrics and provide coaching/mentoring to ensure the highest levels of individual and team performance. Facilitate working in a matrixed environment across the organization.
  • Apply strong program management and administrative skills to develop project plans and timelines; ensure complete and accurate records are captured; and compliance is maintained.
  • This position supervises the following positions: Participant Engagement Administrator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and on time.

We know you have and will be able to

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Sciences, Health Education, Health Communication, Social Work, Social Science, Public Health or related field and 5+ years demonstrated experience in research/clinical trial recruitment and engagement with a focus on community relations and/or health education/communications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications (writing and speaking) skills. Ability to build trust and relationships with individuals and community partners. Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and straightforward manner, particularly for general audiences.
  • Self-starter willing and able to take responsibility and ownership for producing timely and high-quality work with limited supervision. Ability to deconstruct complex problems and develop actionable plans.
  • A team-oriented attitude, strong cross-functional collaboration skills and proven ability to work in a matrixed, global organization. Strong supervisory skills, especially in supervising remote staff.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; detail oriented. Proven ability to manage a large, complex workflow with multiple deadlines, data points, and priorities.
  • High degree of professionalism, cultural awareness, and sensitivity to relationships, security, and confidentiality.

We would love if you also have

  • Master’s degree in nursing, Sciences, Health Education, Health Communication, Social Work, Social Science, Public Health or related field
  • Experience working with and/or established connects with diverse communities, particularly those underrepresented in research, including implementing, and managing targeted community engagement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of breast cancer, with an understanding of health disparities.
  • Intermediate level of computer/technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required. Proficiency with collaboration tools such as Asana preferred.
  • Proficiency in another language, particularly Spanish, a plus.
  • Travel requirements required outside of your home office will be up to 30% or more depending on our business needs.

  • Approximate salary $56,000 to $75,000, exact compensation ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job level, internal equity and budget. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's skills, experience and geographic location.
