In This Role, You Will

  • Identify and document test data requirements.
  • Create and maintain requirements traceability matrices.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Business Analysts throughout the testing process to ensure correct test and defect status is relayed.
  • Assist the team with the creation and execution of test plans, test cases, and test scenarios.
  • Know and understand what types of automation are useful for different stages of development.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions Of Employment & Appeal Rights

A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While all offers are compliant with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, there is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

This is a skills-based job announcement. The required minimum qualifications and/or education (if substituting for the proven experience, knowledge, and skills), are as follows:

  • 1 year of relevant experience with functional system test cases, data, or test suites, standard defect management tools and processes, application development, or regular client-side use of relevant applications with demonstrated understanding of program functionality.
  • Experience applying digital accessibility regulations and standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1) to business processes, content, tools, and/or documents, with the ability to provide specific examples of accessibility improvements made.

Substitutions

Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.

Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience and/or education, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.

If the minimum qualifications include a degree requirement, additional appropriate paid or unpaid experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to work with users and business analysts to understand and construct complex workflow automation that may encompass many pathways and modules through the application required.
  • 3 years experience in QA methodologies and practices with an emphasis on Agile and DevOps
  • Ability to explain and demonstrate the differences between black box, white box and gray box testing.
  • Ability to explain and demonstrate key concepts of continuous software improvement (examples: can explain what continuous integration is and why it is important in an Agile environment; has prior working experience developing tests as part of a CI process, has used Jenkins, or other CI build tools).
  • Ability to explain and demonstrate test planning and strategizing for an Agile project vs. a Waterfall project.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with an interest in solving challenging problems.
  • Desire to continue growing your skills and knowledge of software development and testing.
  • Strong understanding of SQL, HTML, CSS and XML.
  • Experience as automation test engineer.
  • Experience using debugging proxy tools such as Postman.
  • Experience testing applications utilizing Mulesoft, Salesforce, or G-Suite.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Word/Excel/Powerpoint or Google Docs/Sheets/Slides).
  • Proficiency with Selenium
  • Have a solid understanding of WCAG and Section 508 requirements.
  • Demonstrate experience using accessibility validation tools such as SiteImprove, WAVE, or others.
  • Demonstrate experience using screen reader technology such as JAWS, NVDA, or others.
  • ISTQB, ASTQB or other certifications.

Conditions Of Employment

OIT employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work.

A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.

Positions supporting some agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety will also require a pre-employment drug test.

This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed.

Supplemental Information

If this posting indicates “remote from anywhere in CO” in the title, periodic reporting to the primary state work location designated for the position is required. All remote work must be performed in Colorado.

While candidates from out of state will be considered for this role, the candidate selected for the position must relocate and reside in Colorado on the first day of their new position. A reasonable timeframe for relocation will be established on an individual basis, while considering business needs, and determining a start date.
