The Director of Leave Management will be responsible for overseeing and managing the organization's comprehensive leave of absence programs. This role requires a thorough understanding of federal and state leave laws, regulations, and compliance requirements, particularly within the healthcare industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a strategic mindset to implement and administer leave management policies and procedures. The candidate will have experience operating a leave management function in a growing organization and will be skilled in identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives so that the function can scale with organizational growth.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :


EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:


1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.


EXPERIENCE:


1. Eight (8) years of progressive experience in leave management, with a focus in the healthcare industry.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:


1. Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.


2. Professional certifications (e.g. CLMS, PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar).

1. Leadership and Team Development:



  • Lead and manage a team of Leave Claims Analysts, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.



  • Establish performance goals and metrics for the team, regularly assessing and evaluating individual and collective performance.



  • Foster a collaborative and positive team culture that promotes open communication, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.


2. Leave Claims Process Responsibility:



  • Develop and oversee the end-to-end leave claims process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies.



  • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss complex cases, share best practices, and address challenges in the claims management process.



  • Implement quality control measures to minimize errors and ensure consistency in claims processing.



  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to deliver a compliant, scalable administrative process.


3 . Training and Development Programs:



  • Develop and deliver ongoing training programs for Leave Claims Analysts, covering relevant legal updates, procedural changes, and best practices in claims management.



  • Collaborate with the Learning and Development team to create resources and materials that enhance the skillset and knowledge base of the leave claims team.



  • Develop and deliver education to leaders and employees on the Leave policies and procedures.


4. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:



  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the leave claims team, regularly monitoring and reporting on performance metrics.



  • Utilize data and analytics to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas where additional training or support may be needed.



  • Benchmark the leave management function against the industry to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of the program.



  • Implement strategies to address performance gaps and enhance overall team efficiency.


5. Stakeholder Collaboration:



  • Collaborate with other HR leaders, Legal, Benefits, and Payroll teams to ensure seamless coordination and communication regarding leave claims.



  • Facilitate regular cross-functional meetings to discuss emerging issues, process improvements, and coordination of efforts to support employees on leave.


6 . Employee Advocacy:



  • Advocate for the well-being of employees on leave, ensuring a supportive and empathetic approach in claims processing.



  • Address escalated employee concerns and inquiries related to the leave claims process, working to resolve issues promptly and fairly.


7. Process Improvement Initiatives:



  • Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the leave claims process.



  • Encourage team members to contribute ideas for process enhancements and automation, fostering a culture of innovation within the team.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:


1. In-depth knowledge of federal and state leave laws, including FMLA, ADA, and other relevant regulations.


2. Proven leadership experience with the ability to build and lead a high-performing team.


3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations.


4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.


5. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives in a fast-paced and complex environment.


6. Proven experience in leading and managing large teams, preferably in a leave management or related field.


7. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse, remote team.


8. Experience implementing process improvements and leveraging technology to optimize team performance.


9. Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.


10. Demonstrated success in creating a positive and inclusive team culture.
