The Tennessee Office of the Post-Conviction Defender is accepting applications for an
Administrative Assistant opening. All levels of experience will be considered. Applications
received by July 29, 2026, will receive priority consideration. The position will remain open
until filled.
OPCD is an independent agency of the Tennessee state government. The agency represents
people on Tennessee’s death row in appealing their convictions and sentences in state court, as
well as in seeking clemency from the Governor. The office also provides non-case-specific
assistance and educational resources to trial counsel appointed in capital cases. The office and

The administrative assistant will share receptionist responsibilities, including client
communications; process documents by scanning, copying, and saving in a document
management system; manage and maintain the agency’s library book inventory; maintain
office supplies and ensure office equipment is working properly; make and manage travel
arrangements for the agency; and provide other administrative assistance as needed. The
administrative assistant will be responsible for some human resources and fiscal services
including managing onboarding, timekeeping, maintaining personnel files, entering vouchers
for payment in the state accounting system and attending various state human resources and
fiscal/accounting training meetings.
