Role Overview
As the HR Talent Advisor, Employee Experience you serve as a consultative partner to employees across multiple agencies within the Plus Company Toronto office. In this role, you will report to the Talent Director, Employee Experience and provide expert guidance on the entire employee lifecycle, interpret and enforce workplace policies, mitigate organizational risk, and champion cultural initiatives.
Some of the day to day responsibilities of your role will include but will not be limited to:
Employee Relations & Advisory Services
- Trusted Counsel: Serve as the primary point of contact and advisor for managers and employees on complex workplace matters, conflict resolution, and performance management.
- Leave & Lifecycle Management: Oversee and advise on complex life-event leaves (including maternity, STD/LTD), ensuring compliance, compassionate delivery, and successful return-to-work transitions.
- Onboarding: Welcoming new employees, supporting with orientation, ensuring new hires have the best first impression as part of the employee experience journey.
- Offboarding & Risk Mitigation: Manage resignations and exits, severance calculations, termination packages and paperwork. Partner with legal team when required.
- Policy Interpretation: Interpret, apply, and equitably enforce company policies and provincial employment standards across diverse business units.
- Cycle Management: Coordinate and facilitate the annual performance management cycle in partnership with the Talent Director.
- Manager Coaching: Upskill and coach people leaders on delivering constructive feedback, conducting performance reviews, and executing robust Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
- Culture & Engagement: Champion engagement initiatives, leveraging employee feedback, surveys and data analytics to drive a high-performance culture and improve retention.
- National Collaboration: Collaborate as a strategic partner on cross-functional national and regional Talent initiatives/projects, scaling HR best practices across our offices (including Quebec, Toronto, and Vancouver).
- Manage and respond to incoming queries in the HR general email box.
- Assist in conducting audits and maintaining necessary documentation.
- Partner with the center of excellence teams to strategize and execute needs for client groups.
- Stepping in to support team members when needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, combined with minimum 3 years of progressive HR experience (moving into or currently operating at an Advisor level is advantageous).
- Robust understanding of Ontario employment standards, human rights legislation, and health and safety regulations
- Proven ability to coach, influence, and build trust with stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Comfortable leveraging HRIS data and metrics to identify trends and propose proactive, business-oriented solutions.
- Proven ability to translate complex HR policies and metrics into actionable business insights for diverse stakeholders. Acts as a skilled mediator in conflict resolution and serves as a trusted, empathetic coach to people at all levels.
- Detail oriented and committed to delivering high quality work
- Team oriented and enjoys working in a highly collaborative environment
- A highly entrepreneurial individual who enjoys thinking outside the box and likes to identify solutions when there are gaps identified
- Comfortable working with highly sensitive information and being able to keep information confidential
- Proficient in using Google Office
- Driven by a curiosity of leveraging AI tools to advance our clients work and objectives.
