Title: Head of Business Development & Licensing Classification: Full-time, Exempt Location: Remote US (ET hours)
The Head of Business Development & Licensing will lead the company’s efforts to identify, negotiate, and execute strategic partnerships and licensing opportunities that drive revenue, expand product offerings, and enhance brand visibility. This role is highly cross-functional and works closely with marketing, creative, design, legal, and external partners to set strategy, drive execution, and ensure initiatives are structured to maximize commercial impact.
Key Responsibilities
The Head of Business Development & Licensing will lead the company’s efforts to identify, negotiate, and execute strategic partnerships and licensing opportunities that drive revenue, expand product offerings, and enhance brand visibility. This role is highly cross-functional and works closely with marketing, creative, design, legal, and external partners to set strategy, drive execution, and ensure initiatives are structured to maximize commercial impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full P&L responsibility for the function, accountable for revenue growth and margin performance.
- Identify, evaluate, and execute new business opportunities, licensing deals, and strategic partnerships to drive revenue.
- Partner with marketing and creative teams on the creation and delivery of compelling proposals to prospective partners, including retailers, collaborators, and licensing partners.
- Work closely with marketing, design, and product teams to ensure partner initiatives align with brand standards and receive necessary approvals, including product and packaging.
- Review agreements, licensing contracts, and partnership terms; collaborate with external legal as needed.
- Explore opportunities for TV and media exposure to enhance brand visibility.
- 5-7+ years of proven experience in business development, licensing, or strategic partnerships, preferably in e-commerce, lifestyle, or consumer products.
- Strong track record of P&L influence, driving revenue through partnerships and licensing agreements.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience managing PR agencies and securing media/TV exposure as a plus.
- Knowledge of product development, packaging, and brand compliance standards.
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, nimble environment.
