About The Role
In the North American market we have a small impactful commercial team, a strong foundation with solid partnerships and a few large customers. A strategic push for us now is to grow and scale this market and with that in mind we are looking to hire an experienced Director of Sales Development for North America to join our amazing team and be part of our journey.
This role will be responsible for growing our market share by focusing on new business relationships, pipeline growth and positioning. This is a hands-on role and experience of working in a scale-up organization is preferred.

This role will be responsible for growing our market share by focusing on new business relationships, pipeline growth and positioning. This is a hands-on role and experience of working in a scale-up organization is preferred.
Key Responsibilties:
Leadership and Strategy
- Develop and execute outbound sales strategies aligned with regional goals.
- Establish KPIs, track performance, and continuously optimize outreach efforts.
- Identify and prioritize target utility accounts across investor-owned, municipal, and cooperative segments.
- Track regional regulatory trends in collaboration with market development and external consultants.
- Drive awareness and interest in eSmart System’s Grid Vision and AI-powered solutions.
- Own top-of-funnel pipeline creation and qualification.
- Conduct product demos to educate stakeholders on eSmart System’s value proposition and capabilities.
- Own select opportunities post qualification through the pricing and proposal process.
- Support RFP responses efforts as needed.
- Partner with Account Executives to ensure smooth handoff and conversion.
- Leverage HubSpot CRM and sales engagement platforms to manage outreach and reporting.
- Work closely with product, marketing, revenue operations and customer success teams to align on value propositions.
- Provide market feedback to inform product development and positioning.
- Represent eSmart Systems at industry events, conferences, and webinars.
- 3-5 year of experience in B2B sales development.
- Proven track record of commercial success in the enterprise software or SaaS market, within the energy utility sector.
- Experience with CRM tools (e.g. HubSpot), marketing and sales engagement platforms (e.g. Dealfront), and data analytics.
- Deep domain expertise in the energy utility industry, understanding grid operations, asset management, and the challenges faced by utilities.
- Strong product and technology background, with the ability to understand complex software solutions (SaaS, AI/ML, data analytics) and communicate technical concepts effectively.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Ability to travel as required for client meetings, partner engagements, industry events, and internal meetings.
- Competitive base salary of $130,00 - $140,000.
- Commission earning on target of $210,000.
