Whether it’s voice-enabling vehicles, streamlining patient journeys, or enhancing customer service, our multilingual, omnichannel AI technology touches the lives of hundreds of millions of people around the world.The Software Engineer, Machine Learning (ASR Enablement) position collaborates with engineers, researchers, and voice AI practitioners in the field to help enable various voice AI products for customers across different industries using SoundHound AI’s state-of-the-art Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) technologies. The role provides opportunities to apply knowledge and experience in both software engineering and machine learning to solve real-world voice AI problems and deliver value directly to SoundHound AI customers.Responsibilities

  • Train, tune, and test state-of-the-art ASR models for different languages for all SoundHound voice AI products using machine learning and deep learning techniques.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of ASR technologies into SoundHound products.
  • Run benchmarks to monitor the performance of ASR solutions and optimize ASR models for accuracy, efficiency, and scalability across various platforms and applications.
  • Provide customized ASR solutions to meet any customer-specific or product-specific ASR challenges.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer-related ASR issues in a timely manner.
  • Conduct data-driven proof-of-concept experiments and apply SoundHound ASR and ML technologies to real-world applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant disciplines, and 5+ years of full-time work experience
  • Experience with automatic speech recognition, keyword detection, or natural language understanding
  • Good understanding of deep learning and neural networks fundamentals, and deep learning frameworks
  • Proficient in writing production-level Python code
  • Proficiency in writing production-level C++ code

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with Kaldi, PyTorch, and TensorFlow
  • Experience with projects enabling on-device models using TensorFlow Lite
  • Knowledge of the end-to-end ASR pipeline
  • Experience developing, tuning, deploying, and maintaining ASR models
  • Knowledge of NLP techniques related to ASR
  • Experience working with customers

This role is available throughout Canada. Employees within a 100-kilometer radius of our Toronto office are expected to work from the office on three pre-scheduled “core days” each month to encourage cross-team connection and in-person collaboration. Compensation includes salary and equity, comprehensive healthcare, paid time off, and other benefits.
