What You'll Do
- Review facts, policy, technical reports, fire marshal's reports, case law, and make decisions on coverage, value of first-party claims, and negotiate/settle the claims accordingly.
- Investigate by meeting with insureds, third parties, witnesses, and lawyers to acquire facts and information.
- Provide outstanding customer service and keep related parties advised of the claims status.
- Ensure data accuracy, issue payments to insureds, vendors, and other relevant parties.
- Negotiate and reconcile contractor estimates to arrive at an appropriate scope of repair and settlement.
- Conduct physical inspections of damaged properties, including taking photographs, crafting diagrams, and completing a scope of damage and estimate using estimating software.
- Identify large losses, questionable claim indicators, and subrogation opportunities early.
- Maintain accurate reserving of claims files.
- Accurately assess and settle moderate to high complexity property claims.
- Ensure timely and effective communication with all collaborators.
- Maintain high standards of data accuracy and claims file management.
- Deliver outstanding customer service, ensuring client happiness.
- College or University degree, or CIP designation.
- Prior customer service experience, preferably with face-to-face interaction.
- 3+ years of property personal and commercial experience.
- Knowledge of building construction and estimating software.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to travel across Canada at a moment's notice and work away from home for up to 30 days at a time.
- Capability to work extended hours and weekends 365 days/year.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
