About MUBI

MUBI is a global streaming service, production company and film distributor dedicated to elevating great cinema. To make this possible, we create, curate, acquire and champion visionary films, bringing them to audiences all over the world. And we have a team of brilliant, ambitious and passionate individuals to help bring our mission to life. From London to New York, Istanbul to Paris, and Berlin to Mexico - we work together to realize MUBI’s vision.

That’s where you come in! Join our global team and help us make great cinema accessible to everyone, everywhere.

We’re growing our presence in Canada - and with an exciting and ambitious theatrical slate ahead of us, we’re looking for a Theatrical Marketing Manager to lead the charge.

This is a pivotal new role, focused solely on managing and delivering theatrical campaigns across Canada. You’ll be our go-to theatrical expert in the territory, working autonomously and confidently to drive our film releases forward - from initial strategy and creative concepting through to rollout and wrap. While you’ll be the only person in Canada dedicated to theatrical marketing, you’ll have close support from our Canadian Distribution and wider Marketing teams, and collaborate daily with our Global Releases Marketing team.

We’d ideally like this person to be based in Toronto, but we’re open to Montreal with flexibility for travel as needed.

Where you’ll have impact:

  • Canadian Theatrical Campaign Ownership: You’ll lead the planning and execution of theatrical marketing campaigns in Canada, with a focus on cultural specificity, regional nuance, and audience insight.
  • Creative Strategy & Execution: You’ll adapt and contribute to creative briefs, while developing original campaign ideas tailored to the Canadian market.
  • Distributor & Exhibition Partnerships: You’ll manage relationships with local exhibitors, sub-distributors, and promotional partners, ensuring assets are localized, delivered, and activated on time.
  • Media, PR & Social Coordination: You’ll work closely with our Communications, Social, and Digital teams to shape territory-specific activity, including briefing on media plans, managing local budgets, suggesting influencer and grassroots outreach, and sourcing regional opportunities.
  • Campaign Delivery & Reporting: You’ll own key theatrical assets and campaign trackers, coordinate in-market materials, and produce insightful wrap reports that inform future planning.

What you’ll bring:

  • A deep passion for all types of cinema - from indie gems to international festival hits - and a strong understanding of the Canadian theatrical landscape.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in film marketing, ideally with theatrical campaigns or experience working with distributors or exhibitors in Canada.
  • A confident, reliable, and proactive approach - someone who thrives in an autonomous role and enjoys taking full ownership of projects.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to bring the MUBI voice to life in Canadian contexts.
  • Strong creative instincts and an eye for visual storytelling, with the ability to localize or originate campaign concepts.
  • A detail-oriented and highly organized working style - someone who takes pride in making things run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Comfort working across time zones with distributed teams and global stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Google Drive and marketing tools; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Braze or similar platforms is a plus.
  • French language skills (particularly Québécois French) are a plus, but not essential.

We want to make cinema accessible to everyone. We believe people from different backgrounds bring different ideas that foster innovation and engagement, allowing us to attract great people to develop the best experience for our users.

MUBI is committed to being an Equal Opportunity Employer. That means it's our responsibility to ensure that all candidates are not discriminated against in our hiring processes and our employment decisions based on their race, color, religion, nationality or ethnic origin, age, gender identity or expression, sex, marital status, physical or mental disability, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, family or parental status, or any other applicable characteristic.
