The National Diabetes Trust is Canada’s largest charitable clothing and small household good collection service. With more than 5,000 donations bins and an active home pick-up service in communities across Canada (excluding Quebec), we collect unwanted gently used clothing and household items, using them to raise much-needed funds for Diabetes Canada.
Each year, the program diverts more than 100 million pounds of clothing and household items from landfill sites across Canada. As an employee on the National Diabetes Trust team, you are part of our national coverage in 2,500 communities, with 23 operations and 100 trucks. About The Human Resources Assistant Role
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department. The Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for processing all payroll transactions and accurately inputting, updating, and maintaining employee information in the HRIS and all HR systems.

About The Human Resources Assistant Role
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department. The Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for processing all payroll transactions and accurately inputting, updating, and maintaining employee information in the HRIS and all HR systems.
Highlights Of The Role Include
- Process high volume of HRIS & Payroll related transactions. This includes new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, leaves, personal information updates, pay & title changes, mass changes, etc.
- Serve as a first point of contact for the Managers and the Payroll team on any inquiries pertaining to the processing of HRIS transactions.
- Follow up with the hiring managers on any missing information and paperwork as needed.
- Reset employee passwords in the HRIS and HR systems when requested.
- Maintain and update employee profiles in the HRIS and all internal and external HR systems.
- Maintain and update employee benefits. This includes enrollment, updates and terminations.
- Provide benefits card to the new employees.
- Prepare any letters of employment.
- File documents into the appropriate employee files.
- Ensure that all data is entered into the HRIS and HR systems with high accuracy.
- Add and update information in any HR and Payroll trackers.
- Run reports from the HRIS and HR system as needed.
- Support other HR projects or initiatives as assigned.
The selected candidate for this role will meet the following minimum requirements:
- Proven experience or coursework in Human Resources or College Diploma in Human Resources.
- Experience using HRIS Dayforce is an asset.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is necessary, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Exceptional attention to detail and committed to a high degree of accuracy, with a keen sense of urgency.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and a willingness to learn new HR practices.
- Work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Embrace continuous improvement by proposing new and/or better ways of doing things.
