About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will support the accounting department with daily financial transactions, reconciliations, and reporting, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles. This role is perfect for someone early in their accounting career who is eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processing, including invoice verification, payment preparation and sending timely remittances to suppliers.
- Assist with expense reimbursements.
- Assist with accounting related worksheets like prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities and asset amortization schedules.
- Assist with payroll and related benefit transactions.
- Perform bank reconciliations and maintain general ledger entries.
- Assist with month end reconciliation including adjusting entries, provincial tax filings and reviewing the financials for completeness and accuracy.
- Support the preparation of quarterly financial statements.
- Assist in budget tracking and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
- Support audit preparation and respond to auditor requests when needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper financial reporting at month end reconciliation.
- Perform other administrative and accounting duties as assigned.
Who You Are:
- Degree or diploma in accounting
- 2-3 years of accounting experience in an entry-level accounting role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience in Quickbooks
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Self-starter who’s eager to learn and grow
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
