Summary
Under the direction of the Controller, the Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for maintaining financial procedures and processes that support accurate and timely financial reporting for the insurance agency. In this role, you will work closely with the Controller to prepare monthly financial reports for the executive team and parent company. This position will be critical in identifying and developing processes that will improve workflow across the department and company. Must live in the Southeast United States.

Essential Functions
- Ensure proper GAAP treatment for general ledger transactions
- Consolidate multiple entities for monthly financial statements
- Responsible for leading the month-end close process for GAAP financial statements
- Process bi-weekly payroll using the Paychex platform
- Manage monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports
- Record reoccurring and one-time journal entries
- Assist with annual GAAP financial audit
- Analyze financial reports and explain variances
- Produce financial data for management team upon request
- Assist with special Accounting projects periodically
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
- Prior experience with payroll processing is required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with particular attention to detail
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Solid time management skills
- Ability to prioritize work
- Assist in finding more efficient ways to improve work flow and processes
- Strong computer aptitude which includes expertise with Microsoft Office Excel as well as experience with accounting software and general ledgers
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Able to work independently with little supervision, but also able to work collaboratively with a team
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with private company and employee data
- Occasional travel to home office in Macon, Georgia
