What you'll do
The Director of Construction will lead and oversee all pre-construction and construction activities across Giga Energy's portfolio of data center infrastructure projects, through the full project lifecycle from pre-construction planning to final energization. This includes managing, planning, budgeting, selecting and coordinating with contractors and equipment suppliers, overseeing site execution, and ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery of high-quality work.
Where you'll work
If based outside of our Houston or San Francisco hubs, this role will be based remotely from your home office. You must be willing to travel frequently to project sites in Texas and other geographies.

What you'll do
The Director of Construction will lead and oversee all pre-construction and construction activities across Giga Energy's portfolio of data center infrastructure projects, through the full project lifecycle from pre-construction planning to final energization. Responsibilities
Pre-Construction Responsibilities
- Lead budget development and cost estimation for upcoming projects.
- Drive project planning and management using tools such as Monday.com to ensure clarity in scope, schedule, and deliverables.
- Spearhead utility coordination, working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all necessary power and telecom infrastructure is properly scoped and scheduled.
- Oversee equipment and contractor specification for network, electrical, civil, and Giga-specific systems.
- Order equipment and establish site layout in accordance with defined specifications.
- Ensure all permitting is completed in a timely manner and aligns with project milestones.
- Collaborate with BD and Operations teams during due diligence to ensure smooth handoff from contract stage into construction.
- Direct construction management activities including scheduling, contractor supervision, and site logistics.
- Coordinate equipment delivery and receival, ensuring all items are tracked, inspected, and deployed correctly.
- Manage on-site Giga crews and supervise contractor performance for MV, electrical, civil, and mechanical scopes.
- Oversee QA/QC protocols to ensure construction meets Giga's standards and compliance requirements.
- Lead electric equipment management and utility interface during installation and energization.
- Monitor progress tracking, issue resolution, and on-the-ground decision making to avoid bottlenecks.
- Interface with internal teams and clients to provide transparent and regular project updates.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. MBA or advanced certification (e.g. PMP) is a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in construction or energy project management; experience in utilities or modular infrastructure is preferred.
- Proven experience managing complex contractor networks and large-scale procurement.
- Strong understanding of permitting, utility coordination, and QA/QC procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Monday.com, Procore, etc.).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
