Job Description
Nemours children's Health is seeking a FULL-TIME Surgery Scheduler!
Under the direction of the Perioperative Nurse Manager, this position schedules OR, Endoscopy/Bronchoscopy and Minor procedures, utilizing OR/IS system according to procedure type utilizing knowledge of physician procedures, privileges, and block time when appropriate. Enters pertinent patient data and specific physician requests. Initiates initial patient visit in Cerner. Performs initial audit of patient charges post-procedure. Collaborates with the Supplies and Materials coordinator, providing timely notice of physician special supplies and equipment requests. Distributes final, day before surgery, schedules to appropriate departments via fax, email, or interoffice mail as required

Position Responsibilities
- Researches and validates specific physician privileges.
- Schedules procedures in appropriate rooms and/or assigned blocks.
- Documents physician specific requests and maintains complete and accurate.
- Provides timely and adequate information to supplies and materials coordinator on physician specialty requests for supplies and equipment.
- Notifies management team of equipment conflict in the scheduling process, to resolve prior to denying scheduled procedure
- Maintains system integrity and confidentiality of data.
- Initiates billing process in a timely manner, justifies charges daily with Supplies & Materials Coordinator
- Corrects or modifies discrepancies in scheduling and/or billing
- Effectively schedules procedure rooms for optimal utilization.
- Works closely with admitting, ensuring authorizations and insurance information is current for scheduled procedure
- High School diploma required; 1 year of college education preferred
- Completion of Medical Terminology Class, Preferred
- Certified Professional Coding Certificate, Preferre d
- Minimum of one year experience with Medical Coding or Surgical Procedure Scheduling in an Ambulatory or Acute Surgical Setting required
