The Regional Manager - Canada West for Leica Biosystems is responsible for providing oversight and management responsibilities to the team of Sales associates and Technical Specialists for the Western part of Ontario and the 4 western Provinces. They are expected to lead the sales division to achieve regional sales and profitability goals within the assigned territory.

This position is part of the Sales team located in Canada and will be fully remote. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.

You will be a part of the Commercial Organization and report to the Country Manager – Canada responsible for driving business growth for the Company across the entirety of Canada for our core business instrumentation and consumable business verticals including Histology, Immunohistochemistry, and Digital Pathology. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Achieve and exceed the region’s quarterly and annual sales quota, strategic and unit sales mix objectives, profit goal and market share goals while implementing strategies and goals through management of sales representative and technical specialist staff. Develop sales plans and strategies to increase market penetration. Participate in annual sales strategy and OPEX planning. Develop annual sales quotas for sales representatives. Manage and control department expenses at or below budgeted levels.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring for sales representatives and technical specialists. Advance the professional development, professional conduct, sales effectiveness and efficiency of staff. Recruit, develop, and train new sales representatives and technical specialists with clearly communicated sales and overall performance standards.
  • Forecast monthly revenue projections utilizing the company CRM (Salesforce.com). Drive standard work, funnel review process in Salesforce.com. Follow and implement account management through Salesforce.com. Perform monthly funnel reviews with each report and as directed by Country Manager. Approve pricing and discounts, within the authority, for demonstration instruments, consumables and service sales. Maintain strategy, support and pricing consistency between sales territories for National/Regional Accounts and National contracts.
  • Travel with sales representatives and technical specialists providing individual coaching and professional development to each member of the regional selling team (target three days per week or 60% of the available time). Complete Field Sales Management Reports and distribute reports for each field visit.
  • Develop, solidify and maintain, high-level relationships within key accounts (including Top 10) in assigned geography. These relationships should include Senior Hospital Management (C-Suite), Laboratory Administration, Department of Pathology, Purchasing and Materials Management, Contracts Administration and other key departments and/or personnel. Maintain a working knowledge of products, customer applications, and key customer needs and requirements for the pathology market. Maintain a working knowledge of competitor products and their methods of selling as a means to assist direct sales representatives and specialists in competitive selling situations.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Education: BA/BS Degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years Field Sales experience
  • 3+ years Sales Management experience
  • Experience in clinical, research, or industrial laboratory setting with a focus on both capital and consumables businesses.

Travel and Motor Vehicle Record Requirements:

  • Ability to travel – up to 75% travel, overnight, within territory or locations
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Histology/Cytology/IHC/Digital Pathology market knowledge.

The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $170,000 CAD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
