About the Business Development Director

As Business Development Director, you'll drive Trove's continued growth by securing new brand partners across fashion, outdoor, footwear, luxury, and lifestyle categories. You'll be assigned a book of business aligned to your experience and relationships, and will be responsible for sourcing, influencing, and closing complex, multi-year partnerships with globally recognized brands and retailers.

The resale category is accelerating rapidly, and Trove is the leading partner at scale. In this role, you'll build relationships with decision-makers ranging from C-suite executives and investors to brand managers and sustainability leaders. You'll also collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across Marketing, Product, Partnerships, and Operations to craft compelling, high-impact solutions for our partners.

This position reports to the VP of Business Development and sits within a small, highly collaborative Growth team.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and execute ambitious quarterly and annual business development goals.
  • Drive both inbound and outbound sales efforts across your assigned book of business.
  • Lead sales strategy for each prospect—mapping stakeholders, understanding goals, and identifying the strategic fit.
  • Build trust and influence across a range of buyer personas including sustainability, ecommerce, merchandising, and strategy leaders.
  • Partner with Marketing, Product, and Data teams to develop powerful, insight-driven narratives and sales materials.
  • Negotiate and close long-term agreements that achieve revenue and margin targets while supporting Trove's market leadership.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to coordinate favorable terms, finalize contracts, and ensure successful partner transitions.
  • Represent Trove at industry events and conferences, occasionally traveling for in-person meetings with brand stakeholders.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor moves, and public company disclosures to inform sales strategy and pipeline development.
  • Contribute to the continued evolution of efficient, scalable business development processes.



Experience You Bring

  • 10+ years of sales experience closing consultative, complex, highly strategic, multi-year deals.
  • Deep relationships and reputation working with or for large enterprise brands and retailers in fashion, luxury, athletic/outdoor spaces.
  • Experience working within a retail brand environment and understanding brand priorities.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS, ecommerce platforms, and digital retail trends.
  • Comfort with software-driven organizations and cross-functional product teams.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented—motivated by both personal results and team success.
  • Detail oriented - strong communicator - strategic thinker.

Trove is committed to creating an equitable and transparent workplace. The base salary range for this role is $150,000-$190,000 per year. In addition the role includes a commission-based compensation structure aligned to closed sales. Total On-Target Earnings (OTE) potential for this role is expected to be $225,000-$400,000, but actual earnings may vary based on individual performance. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, location and skills and may vary from the range listed above.
