Sovereign is looking for a Communications & Design Specialist. Reporting to the Manager, Internal Communications, with a dotted line to Marketing, you will lead innovative, cutting-edge internal/external design that reflects our unique brand. You’ll apply creative design and data visualization for presentations (PowerPoint, Canva), intranet sites, emails, documents and social media content. Comfortable working digitally (SharePoint, Agility CMS), you’ll consider UX while building and refining online design and functionality, developing video and other multimedia assets, managing content calendars, and leading department analytics.

Sovereign is looking for a Communications & Design Specialist. Reporting to the Manager, Internal Communications, with a dotted line to Marketing, you will lead innovative, cutting-edge internal/external design that reflects our unique brand. You’ll apply creative design and data visualization for presentations (PowerPoint, Canva), intranet sites, emails, documents and social media content. Comfortable working digitally (SharePoint, Agility CMS), you’ll consider UX while building and refining online design and functionality, developing video and other multimedia assets, managing content calendars, and leading department analytics.
How you will create impact:
- Apply impactful and compelling design and use creative communication approaches that reflect our brand across various channels: PPT decks, surveys, intranet (MySovereign), email, Viva Engage, events, surveys, videos, web and social content.
- Understand UX principles, build and refine online design and content to promote intuitive navigation and functionality.
- Co-ordinate a cross-departmental content calendar to effectively coordinate internal/external communication and ensure a cadence of communications that are well paced, consistent in tone, and aligned to our brand and employee value proposition.
- Create designs to support the understanding of Sovereign’s purpose-driven business strategy, distribution strategy, organizational capabilities, high performance culture, and other initiatives.
- Regularly monitor the effectiveness of communication tactics, leveraging data and insights.
- Support the execution of various employee events such as town halls, webinars, and quarterly meetings.
- You thrive on delivering our exceptional client experience through positive and engaging relationships; embracing accountability to achieve effective results.
- You ensure your day-to-day actions are in harmony with the company’s purpose, vision, and values even when challenged.
- You will support and guide others through changing conditions and encourage the exploration of new opportunities or innovations.
- You value cooperative and collaborative dialogue because diverse perspectives offer more creative and productive solutions.
- You have superior organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- 3-5 years of communication experience in corporate communication, including strong demonstrated design experience.
- University degree in Design, Communications, Fine Arts, Public Relations, Marketing or related discipline.
- Experience creating/producing materials across a variety of platforms (electronic, print, events, social media, and video).
- Strong graphic design experience and understanding of the fundamentals, including accessibility requirements.
- Experience in UX design, Sharepoint and intranet navigation, including related analytics.
- Data-driven mindset; ability to measure communication tactics and identify insights.
- Superior organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- You may handle sensitive information where a high degree of confidentiality and discretion is required.
- You may work on a virtual team or remotely. A high degree of autonomy is required.
