Key Responsibilities
Communications & PR Strategy
- Develop and guide the overall communications strategy that establishes and reinforces Trashie's position as an industry leader
- Direct agency partners in implementing PR strategies that highlight Trashie's innovative approach, thought leadership, and category-defining work, including securing speaking opportunities, press coverage, awards, and industry recognition that validates Trashie's standing as a pioneer in the space
- Oversee relationship management with key media contacts, industry luminaries and influencers, as well as potential partners who can amplify Trashie's industry leadership message
- Ensure consistent messaging about Trashie's industry leadership across all agency-managed channels
- Lead the development of customer segmentation strategies to identify and define target audience groups, providing weekly, monthly, and quarterly tracking against KPIs
- Collaborate with marketing and data teams to gather customer insights that inform segmentation models
- Ensure all communications and content are properly tailored to specific audience segments
- Develop measurement frameworks to track communication effectiveness across different segments
- Continuously refine segmentation approach based on data and market trends
- Develop the master content calendar and strategic framework, while guiding our internal team on execution
- Oversee our internal copywriter, champion our playful brand voice while ensuring messaging and lexicon consistency across all channels
- Identify breakthrough content opportunities that showcase our brand's personality while still delivering on strategic objectives
- Review and approve all content to maintain quality and strategic alignment
- Encourage experimentation with new content formats and approaches that reinforce our brand's unique character
- Analyze content performance metrics from external and internal reports and guide optimization strategies
Required
- 8+ years of communications experience with at least 5 years in a strategic leadership role
- Proven track record developing communications strategies and guiding agency execution
- Experience managing agency relationships and evaluating agency deliverables
- Experience with customer/audience segmentation and data-driven communications planning
- Strong understanding of content strategy across multiple channels and formats
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field
- Degree in Communications, Marketing, or MBA
- Experience in our industry or with similar brands/audiences
- Background in both B2B and B2C communications strategy
- Experience with communications measurement and analytics
- Understanding of SEO and digital marketing principles
- Prior agency experience a plus (provides perspective when managing agency partners)
- Strategic thinker who can connect communications to business outcomes
- Creative visionary who embraces our fun brand personality and isn't afraid to push boundaries
- Possesses a playful imagination and can inject humor and delight into communications
- Data-savvy with the ability to translate insights into action
- Creative problem-solver with strong critical thinking skills
- Balance of professionalism and personality – knows when to be serious and when to be playful
- Has an eye for the unexpected angle that generates buzz and engagement
- Excellent project management abilities
- Collaborative team player who can work cross-functionally and inspire creative thinking in others
- Adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership presence with a talent for fostering a fun, creative team culture
