Cloudhead has partnered multiple times with industry legend Valve to create tech demos, with the most notable being Aperture Hand Lab, a humorous Valve Index controller demo set in the Portal Universe. Always innovating, Cloudhead is also known for its early solutions in VR locomotion/comfort with snap turns and teleportation, as well as VR motion capture and hand interactions.
Cloudhead Games is a fully remote company working Pacific Time Zone hours.
Cloudhead is seeking a talented and creative Technical Designer to help shape the core interactions, gear, and gameplay mechanics in our game. This role is well-suited for someone with strong C# and Unity expertise who thrives on prototyping, iterating, and developing engaging interactions. You will collaborate closely with designers, artists, and engineers to bring the game’s vision to life, crafting intuitive mechanics that feel intuitive and elevate the player experience.

What you would do:
- Design, prototype and develop VR interactions, mechanics and gameplay systems
- Implement and refine gear systems to enhance gameplay experiences
- Collaborate with Design, Art and Engineering teams to push the game’s vision forward
- Use Unity and C# to develop, script and iterate on VR gameplay systems
- Gather playtest feedback, iterate and refine mechanics based on user input
- Help define best practices and workflows for VR interaction design
- Stay up to date on industry trends and research solutions used by other VR games as reference
What you will bring:
- 5+ years of experience in game development, with a focus on technical design or gameplay programming
- Strong experience in Unity and C#, including scripting, prototyping and implementing game mechanics
- A collaborative and approachable team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and adaptable
Nice to have:
- Experience in VR
- Familiarity with physics simulation, IK systems or haptics in VR
- Knowledge of networked multiplayer VR interactions

As we better understand your skillset, it may be determined that your experience aligns more with a higher or lower level of seniority. The salary range for this position is CAD $80-100k.
