Overview

We are seeking a Technical Accounting and Reporting Manager with a strong technical accounting background to work with our Director, Assistant Controller and support the establishment and maintenance of financial controls over internal and external reporting. This position requires deep expertise in US GAAP to ensure compliance and accuracy in our financial reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving internal controls, streamlining accounting processes, and providing technical guidance on complex accounting matters.

What You Will Do

  • Work with the outsourced accounting team to supervise and perform company accounting functions
  • Provide advanced technical accounting guidance and expertise related to US GAAP, ensuring compliance with all applicable accounting standards.
  • Assist in documentation and review of new transactions to ensure compliance with applicable US GAAP.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare journal entries and perform month-end tasks and reconciliations
  • Review and reconcile material balances as part of period end reporting
  • Review the booking of transactions, ensuring proper classification of charges, preparing month-end packages used for reviewing performance and ensuring balances are appropriate
  • Generate meaningful flux analysis commentary based on input from operational groups and convey to the Finance organization as part of month-end reporting packages
  • Design, implement, and evaluate internal controls over financial reporting to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial statements. Recommend and oversee the implementation of control improvements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process, providing the necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards. Address audit findings and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist with establishing accounting policies and procedures in line with industry best practices and US GAAP requirements. Regularly review policies for updates in response to changes in regulations or company needs.
  • Participate in other projects and other duties as needed

Who You Are

  • Canadian/US CPA designation with Public accounting experience
  • Knowledge of US GAAP
  • Able to present information to various levels and communicate requirements
  • Ability to manage several priorities at once, collaborate cross-functionally, and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • 5-6 years of relevant work experience in a fast-paced accounting function
  • Experience with Netsuite and Tipalti is preferable

Compensation Range: CA$101K - CA$130K
