We’re looking for a Team Lead, Private Client Division to join our growing personal lines team. This is a player-coach role, ideal for someone who thrives in both sales and leadership. You’ll be responsible for managing a portfolio of high-net-worth (HNW) clients and retail clients while also managing and supporting our Private Client Advisors in delivering an exceptional client experience.
Position Overview
As the Team Lead, Private Client Division, you will contribute to and drive the success of Summit’s private client team alongside our Manager, Private Client Division. You’ll lead by example - actively building a book of business while also providing mentorship, coaching, and strategic guidance to help the team achieve its goals. This role requires a balance of hands-on client management, team leadership, and process optimization to ensure Summit remains a premier provider of high-value personal insurance solutions.

The Pay Range For This Role Is

Key Responsibilities
Client Management & Sales:
- Manage and grow a portfolio of high-net-worth (HNW) and retail personal lines clients, providing expert guidance on complex personal insurance needs.
- Actively prospect and develop new business opportunities through referrals, networking, and existing client relationships.
- Ensure an exceptional client experience by delivering proactive risk management advice and seamless service from quote to policy binding and beyond.
- Negotiate with insurers to secure the best coverage and pricing for clients.
- Serve as a mentor and coach to Private Client Advisors, providing ongoing training, support, and performance feedback worrking alongside our division lead.
- Drive a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations, tracking team goals, and fostering accountability.
- Lead team meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions to ensure alignment and continuous improvement.
- Act as the primary point of escalation for complex client situations, providing guidance and solutions.
- Work with leadership to develop and refine workflows, ensuring efficiency and best-in-class client service.
- Identify opportunities to improve the personal lines client experience and implement strategies for enhanced retention and growth.
- Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, operations, and commercial insurance) to enhance cross-selling opportunities.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and insurer product offerings to keep Summit ahead of the curve.
- Licensing: Level 2 insurance license required (RIBO license is an asset).
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years in personal lines insurance, with experience working with high-net-worth clients preferred.
- Sales & Business Development: Proven track record of managing and growing a personal lines book of business.
- Leadership Abilities: Experience mentoring, coaching, or leading a team, even in an informal capacity.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of high-value home, auto, collections, and specialty risk insurance products.
- Client-Centric Mindset: A passion for delivering exceptional service and building lasting client relationships.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to handle complex risk scenarios and provide strategic insurance solutions.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to present confidently to clients and team members.
- Process-Oriented: Ability to optimize workflows and drive efficiencies within a team setting.
