About the role
Elemental is seeking a copywriter and copy editor to consult and support its creative, engagement, and communication teams. In this role, you will be responsible for both creating and refining the organization's written content across a variety of platforms. You will help elevate Elemental Impact's voice and influence, contributing to storytelling efforts and high-profile announcements while maintaining accuracy, clarity, and a cohesive brand narrative.

About the role
Elemental is seeking a copywriter and copy editor to consult and support its creative, engagement, and communication teams. In this role, you will be responsible for both creating and refining the organization's written content across a variety of platforms. You will help elevate Elemental Impact's voice and influence, contributing to storytelling efforts and high-profile announcements while maintaining accuracy, clarity, and a cohesive brand narrative.
Key responsibilities include:
Copywriting
- Write original, engaging copy for a variety of platforms, including website, social media, newsletters, press releases, marketing collateral, reports, and presentations
- Ensure messaging reflects Elemental Impact's values, mission, and unique approach to climate action, crafting content that drives engagement and action
- Collaborate closely with internal teams—communications, engagement, creative, and program leads—to develop clear, persuasive, and audience-targeted content
- Create compelling narratives that bring to life Elemental Impact's initiatives, partnerships, and milestones, such as fund launches and community projects
- Tailor copy to resonate with key audiences, including investors, policymakers, corporate partners, and community leaders
- Review, edit, and proofread all written materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with Elemental Impact's brand voice and tone
- Ensure all content is grammatically correct, clear, and concise, maintaining a high standard of quality across various communication platforms
- Fact-check copy to ensure all information is up-to-date and accurate, especially for reports, press releases, and public-facing content
- Edit content produced by other teams, including external contributors, ensuring it meets brand and style guidelines
- Provide constructive feedback to writers and team members, helping them improve clarity, tone, and effectiveness
Desired Skills:
- 3+ years professional copywriting and copyediting experience, ideally within the climate, startup, investing, or social impact sectors
- Strong portfolio showcasing the ability to write and edit for a range of formats, from short-form social content to long-form reports
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistency in brand voice and style
- Experience collaborating with teams and contributing to cross-functional projects
- Ability to distill complex topics—especially in investing and innovation—into clear, engaging, and audience-appropriate content
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with SEO principles, digital content best practices, and editorial processes
- Compensation range: $85 - $120 per hour based on experience
- This position will be remote and candidates can be based anywhere in the United States.
- Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
- Approximately 10-15 hours per week with the ability to increase to 30 hours per week on an as-needed basis; work hours should fall Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT; weekend work might be required occasionally
- Tentative Project Dates: December 2, 2024 to April 1, 2025
