OIT is on a continuous journey to embody equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Specialist position plays a crucial role with the management and coordination of overall agency EDI goals. As the EDI Specialist you work across OIT to promote a welcoming and inclusive work environment within OIT by driving processes and deepening the impact of our five Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), our employee EDI committee (the EDI Action Alliance), and designing and delivering training and development specific to EDI. You will closely work with the communications team to develop and maintain high quality communications, including reports and websites. You will also develop and oversee the implementation of new processes with broad organizational impact and serve as a resource for OIT employees.
When it comes to technology, EDI isn’t just a nice thing to do, it’s strategic. It helps us understand how to best serve all Coloradans equitably and how to provide the most engaging experiences for our workforce. OIT’s EDI work, including our annual EDI Plan, is posted on OIT’s website .
Some Of The Day-to-day Duties Include
A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While all offers are compliant with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, there is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
This is a skills-based job announcement. The required minimum qualifications and/or education (if substituting for the proven experience, knowledge, and skills), are as follows:
OIT employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work.
A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.
Positions supporting some agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety will also require a pre-employment drug test.
This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed.
Supplemental Information
If this posting indicates “remote from anywhere in CO” in the title, periodic reporting to the primary state work location designated for the position is required. All remote work must be performed in Colorado.
While candidates from out of state will be considered for this role, the candidate selected for the position must relocate and reside in Colorado on the first day of their new position. A reasonable timeframe for relocation will be established on an individual basis, while considering business needs, and determining a start date.

Some Of The Day-to-day Duties Include
- Coordinate and deliver training content in collaboration with the Senior EDI Manager. Confidently coach and facilitate conversations related to micro-aggressions, biases, and operationalizing EDI.
- Drive tasks of multiple interdependent projects including communications, program roll-outs, tracking and reporting, and stakeholder management. Provides overall leadership, guidance, and support to EDI Action Alliance and ERGs, including but not limited to: alignment, governance, leader coaching, charters, event support, budget management, communication, and membership.
- Oversee and leverage ERGs, research, stakeholders, and other resources to create a sense of belonging and community building as a retention effort particularly among marginalized employees.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop content, agenda, and materials for meetings, conferences, workshops, and events.
- Develop resources and toolkits for supervisors and employees on making OIT more inclusive.
- Consult on policy and partner with the communications team to develop communications and events for sharing best practices, and to raise the visibility of EDI efforts and progress.

- Five (5) years experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position, including three (3) years of previous experience with EDI-specific programs and communications. Examples may include supporting organization-wide equity, diversity and inclusion programs, initiatives or strategies, developing and delivering training, community engagement or leadership, data analysis and developing communications.
- Experience applying digital accessibility regulations, and standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1) to business processes, content, tools, and/or documents, with the ability to provide specific examples of accessibility improvements made.
- Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.
- Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience and/or education, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.
- Knowledge and experience in issues related to social justice, anti-racism, anti-discrimination, and accessibility.
- Exceptional emotional intelligence, including interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience engaging in and facilitating conversations with individuals and groups around the power dynamics and mechanisms of structural racism, equity, and authentic inclusion.
- Experience organizing and leading multiple employee resource groups
- Previous experience working in government.
