Job Overview

The Director of Programs and Partnerships will oversee the Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) program, self-management initiatives, and strategic partnerships, employing best practices in public health. This vital position involves offering bereavement support, cultivating national partnerships, and delivering presentations aimed at enhancing awareness and advancing the mission of the organization. The Director will report directly to the Vice President of Programs and Training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide bereavement support by consulting on referrals, interviewing clients, and offering guidance to the Affiliate Network.
  • Develop a comprehensive framework for expanding SUDEP bereavement services across the Affiliate Network and ensure continuous support for affiliates.
  • Facilitate sessions with families and caregivers, collaborating with professionals and community support groups as necessary.
  • Manage and execute contracts with facilitators of SUDEP support groups.
  • Establish objectives for epilepsy self-management initiatives.
  • Expand self-management programs to increase participation and the number of trained providers nationwide.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to create public awareness campaigns on wellness-related topics.
  • Partner with organizations focused on epilepsy self-management, wellness, and behavioral health, informed by industry trends and best practices.
  • Conduct national and local outreach through presentations and workshops to promote assigned programs and initiatives.
  • Oversee national partnerships to support program growth and outreach.
  • Identify potential funding sources and manage the program budget effectively.
  • Collect and analyze data to generate insightful reports on program success and challenges.
  • Work independently on diverse tasks with minimal supervision while performing additional duties and special projects as required.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Salesforce, and database management tools is preferred.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to interpret data and present findings.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with diverse audiences, including service providers and individuals from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with public health program development and bereavement support.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree in communications, medical, nursing, public health, social work/social services, or a related field is strongly preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for an advanced degree.
  • A minimum of six years of experience in project management, health education, and advocacy. Experience in nonprofit organizations or foundations is advantageous.
  • Proven leadership abilities in directing programs effectively.
  • Knowledge of bereavement processes and the psychology of loss is preferred.
