Pon.Bike is a top player in the global bicycle industry with a global group of brands that provides the best bikes in any market segment – from off-road downhill racing to urban luggage carriers. Headquartered in the Netherlands with locations based in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. The Director of Distribution role is part of the Pon.Bike North American Operations group that supports brands such as Pacific Cycle (Schwinn and Mongoose), Cannondale, GT, Gazelle, Urban Arrow, Santa Cruz, Reserve Wheels and Cervelo. Our goal is to enable brands to achieve their commercial ambition through operational excellence.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of the company's warehousing and distribution facilities. This role requires a strategic leader who can drive improvements in warehousing processes, manage staff, and ensure that inventory management and distribution activities align with company goals.

As we transform and grow our business, the Director of Distribution will be responsible for leading the cultural and business transformations needed to meet our strategic goals. This will require the development of strategic plans that sustain and enable the business growth and drive an efficient distribution of product across Pon.Bike North America market. Of key importance is transforming our business from B2B to a blended B2B/B2C including e-commerce. Key responsibilities include leading a team that will manage In-bound/Out-bound processes, picking, packing and kitting with a combined staff of 100 + employees.

The Director of Distribution will also manage financial aspects of operations including creating and monitoring annual budgets. Be responsible for the overall state of operations and in and out-bound logistics. While complying with all federal, state and local regulations.



Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to multiple Distribution Centers to effectively manage the receipt, storage, selection, packaging, loading, and shipping of products. Adherence to policy, procedure, and process excellence. Ensures wellbeing of associates through compliance with all safety and Hazmat rules and regulations, legal regulations, and human resource policies.
  • Conducts analysis of reports relating to sales, volume, payroll, employee turnover, monthly operational and capital expense budgets; prepares reports to communicate operational performance and overall performance.
  • Leads and Develops people to identify key talents, map succession plans and build high performance teams across organization, by being a role model leader and inspiring them.
  • Cultivates optimization and continuous improvement by leveraging a mix of key metrics, Lean Six Sigma, GEMBA walks and other activities to understand what's working well and where to improve.
  • Collaborates with other operational and brand leaders, provides guidance to achieve established standards of service, quality, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Establishes strategic directions and best business practices for distribution activities, by being proactive vs. reactive to business/market changes, by acting as business partner and having a good relationship across the company, challenging status-quo, processes, distribution model and continuous improvements to promote competitive advantage within the industry and sustain the business growth.
  • Directs/plans and organizes distribution centers activities, by making Distribution Center Managers accountable for their key responsibilities and be proactive on anticipating problems / issues to implements corrective actions to avoid / mitigate, and to have the right and proper monitors of IN and OUT-bound process flow.
  • Provides recommendation, business case and project management to develop, procurement, implementation and testing of software/hardware pertaining to Logistics and Distribution, by exploring all available tools, such as ERP (SAP), TMS, WMS, EDI and RFID applications, etc.
  • Drive internal controls and company policies set by Pon.Bike NA Operations.
  • Contribute to the success of Pon.Bike NA Operations by leading or assisting with other projects and tasks as assigned.

Minimum Requirements (include education, experience, special skills, licenses, certifications etc)

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in the areas of Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Technology, Operations, or related business
  • 10-15 Years' experience managing teams/people
  • Ability to analyze a supply chain and find risks
  • Five years on leading Sr. Managers and developing people and organization
  • Ability/Experience identify opportunities to improve
  • Excellent planning and project management skills
  • Proven knowledge of performance evaluation metrics
  • Computer skills in SAP or similar ERP program, and -Windows-Excel-Word-Access.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated success innovating solutions to increase productivity and profitability
  • Must be organized with good follow up skills and an effective communicator both up and down the organization.
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods shipping regulations and all other Distribution / Operations regulations
  • Ability to work in a fast-pace environment
