What we need




The Project Management Organization (PMO) Lead will partner with cross-functional leaders to plan and implement automation solutions at client sites. The primary goal is to ensure the teams are aligned, plans are executed, risks are managed effectively, while driving communications to ensure the successful execution of complex projects. This position will be a highly visible role and will interact with all departments and levels including executive management. This role may have supervisory responsibilities foster a culture focused on transparency, speed of decision-making, and a synchronized partnership within project teams






What we do




We are looking for a Project Management Organization lead to join our Site Installation team within our Implementation organization. The Site Installation team oversees the installation of Symbotic automation systems on customer sites. They are responsible for ensuring the systems are installed as designed and at a high quality on schedule and under budget. This group will partner very closely with the Symbotic PM and commissioning team






What you’ll do






  • Establish and maintain Program Management governance framework including policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with Symbotic’s objectives



  • Conduct project audits to assess compliance with project management processes, standards, and best practices



  • Identify areas of non-compliance, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement through project audits and identify software tools for best project documentation



  • Develop corrective action plans and recommendations based on audit findings to enhance project performance and governance



  • Lead multidisciplinary teams through project development, from site preparation to system acceptance aligned with project objectives



  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues. Develop risk management strategies and contingency plans to minimize project disruptions and ensure timely delivery



  • Lean-focused, continual improvement of new standards, processes, and procedures that streamline team interactions and communication



  • Establish performance metrics, KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and reporting mechanisms to track project progress, identify deviations, and provide regular updates to stakeholders. Prepare executive-level reports and presentations



  • Reviews status and monitors variances on projects, plans and mitigates risks, and provides necessary updates to internal and external stakeholders



  • Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement for project execution and contribute to the strategic direction of the organization's projects. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management to enhance project outcomes and achieve business objectives



  • Lead and mentor a team of project management professionals providing guidance, coaching, and training to enhance team capabilities and performance



  • Manage training and continued learning of new implementations tools and processes



  • Reviews status and monitors variances on projects, plans and mitigates risks, and provides necessary updates to internal & external stakeholders



  • Lead a team of project managers providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to foster professional growth and development



  • Set clear performance expectations, monitor progress, and provide regular feedback to drive individual and team success



  • Other duties assigned







What you’ll need






  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, construction management, or equivalent years of experience



  • Minimum 8 to 10 years related experience and/or training in construction/automation/material handling fields or equivalent combination of education and experience



  • Experience in managing direct reports (3 – 5 people)



  • Experience with detailed-level scheduling, scope, and cost management of complex projects



  • Risk management - Must be able to identify and mitigate complex risks at a project level



  • Experience with robotic automation, material handling, or ASRS projects



  • Experience with design/build, construction management, and installation project management



  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing projects or programs across broad internal (business leadership, sales/solutions, hardware and software engineering, etc.) & external stakeholders (client leadership, general contractors, unions architects, subcontractors)



  • Track record of meeting project deliverables while remaining on time and within budget



  • Demonstrated ability to implement creative solutions while working under pressure



  • Good negotiation and relationship skills, both in directing the technical team and the ability to manage and reach solutions to competing priorities



  • Proficient with scheduling software and earned value management systems



  • Experience with using metrics and data analysis to drive process improvements



  • Ability to provide critical technical thinking at the team level to trigger appropriate discussions around requirements, design, and process challenges that the project teams may face



  • Travel up to 75%







Other Considerations






  • Remote, travel-based position



  • Employee must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. Our main office is in Wilmington, MA. The person taking this position will be required to perform work at our customer installation locations for extended periods of time where equipment is installed and ready for commissioning



  • The employee is responsible to own a credit card and manage expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis



  • The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms



  • The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl



  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds



  • Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols



  • Approximately 75% of site time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness)



  • There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure. You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure



  • You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground



  • Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit
