28 Plate Mounter

Hood Packaging Corporation is a privately held company, highly respected in the multiwall paper bag and plastic packaging industries. Our Tifton, Georgia location is seeking talented and dedicated team members to help us continue our legacy. 

SCOPE OF POSITION

Responsible for accurately mounting plates on cylinders in proper register to ensure quality print and removing plates from cylinders. Ensuring this is done within the standard rate of production. Responsible for making plates if needed.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and mount all plates on cylinder in register.


• Proof each job for correctness, color separation, registration and consistency in printing surface.


• Check all facets of job against sample proofs, memos, production orders and with supervision if there is any doubt as to the correctness of plates.


• Follow all safety procedures when lifting and mounting plates.


• Keep area clean and organized to ensure compliance with SQF standards.


• Check plate quality and storing plates in proper storage area or ensuring plates are correctly disposed.


• Ensure all cylinder loads are safely loaded and properly secured when hoisting 


• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Appropriate and applicable hand tools.


• Equipment includes computer and printer


• Must be able to work flexible or extended hours to meet the customer demands.


• Must have good eyesight to visually inspect plates for quality and/or deficiencies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.


• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and climbing.


• Ability to handle printing plates.


• Must be able to pull sticky back from cylinders at a force pull of up to 125lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Plant manufacturing floor.


• Hot and cold environment.

QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Highschool Diploma or GED


• Minimum of 2 years in manufacturing preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS – SKILLS

• Good basic math and spelling skills.


• Must be able to communicate in an effective and respectful manner.


• Ability to read, write and understand production orders accurately.


• Work in a deadline structured environment.


• Must have problem solving capabilities.


• Flexo Printing Knowledge a plus


• Able to understand a bag layout


• Working knowledge and understanding of mechanics of plate maker equipment.


• Excellent attention to detail.
