About the Opportunity

Quantum is currently recruiting for an experienced Civil Litigation Law Clerk to join a highly respected and established Toronto law firm.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and experienced Law Clerk to provide direct support to a senior lawyer within a busy and sophisticated litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have 7-10+ years of civil litigation experience, strong knowledge of Ontario's Rules of Civil Procedure, and the ability to manage complex files independently in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with clients, counsel, courts, and other stakeholders. Strong communication skills and confidence are essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide comprehensive law clerk support throughout the litigation process.
- Assist with the preparation and coordination of examinations for discovery, trials, hearings, and other proceedings.
- Manage court filings, service of materials, and communication with Court Registry staff.
- Establish and maintain client files, pleadings indexes, calendars, and bring-forward systems.
- Monitor deadlines and ensure all required follow-ups and next steps are completed.
- Coordinate the collection, review, organization, and production of documents with counsel, clients, and vendors.
- Prepare and assist with drafting Cost Outlines, Bills of Costs, Notices of Motion, and affidavits for motions.
- Assist with case law research and preparation of Books of Authorities, including creating, side-barring, and highlighting materials.
- Upload discovery materials to Relativity and maintain accurate production logs.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation throughout the life cycle of files.
- Provide general administrative and litigation support as required.

Qualifications:

- 7-10+ years of civil litigation law clerk experience, ideally within a busy law firm environment.
- Law Clerk diploma or certificate.
- Strong understanding of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Experience managing complex litigation files with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong client service and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Confident, professional, and comfortable working with senior lawyers and clients.
- Previous experience conducting or assisting with new client intakes is an asset.
- Criminal litigation experience is an asset but not required.
- Experience with eDiscovery/document management platforms such as Relativity or Summation is an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe PDF and Microsoft Office 365.
- Familiarity with Soluno and iManage is an asset.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
