Role:
A Maintenance Specialist at Chick-fil-A Manteca serves as the restaurant’s expert in facilities, equipment, preventative maintenance, and cleanliness, ensuring the restaurant remains safe, functional, organized, and ready for a remarkable customer experience. This role focuses on preventative maintenance, equipment repair and troubleshooting, building maintenance, deep cleaning, and systems that support a food-safe and remarkable environment for customers and Team Members. The Maintenance Specialist is trusted to identify maintenance needs, follow a preventative maintenance calendar, maintain accurate records, and determine when issues can be resolved in-house or require support from external vendors, Chick-fil-A’s Support Center, or other strategic partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Vision and Purpose Alignment

- Take initiative in identifying opportunities to improve the safety, functionality, organization, and appearance of the restaurant.
- Maintain an environment that allows Team Members to consistently deliver quality food and a remarkable experience to customers.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement by proactively identifying, communicating, and implementing maintenance and facility solutions.
Food Safety and Operational Readiness
- Maintain equipment and facilities in a condition that supports Chick-fil-A food safety and operational standards.
- Ensure equipment is routinely inspected, cleaned, maintained, and repaired according to established processes, procedures, and a maintenance calendar.
- Complete preventative maintenance and identify potential equipment issues before they impact restaurant operations.
- Maintain and deep clean kitchen equipment to support food safety, equipment longevity, and operational excellence.
- Follow all established safety, sanitation, and food safety procedures at all times.
- Communicate cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance concerns to Directors and General Managers and ensure appropriate follow-up.
Equipment and Maintenance
- Assess restaurant equipment on a pre-determined schedule to identify necessary repairs, preventative maintenance, and replacement needs.
- Maintain and repair equipment throughout the Front of House and Back of House when appropriate and within the scope of the role.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and determine whether repairs can be completed in-house or require an outside technician.
- Maintain a detailed maintenance calendar and equipment records documenting repairs, preventative maintenance, and outstanding needs.
- Maintain an organized log of maintenance and repair history for each major piece of equipment.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for restaurant equipment.
- Maintain equipment in accordance with established best practices and equipment documentation, including but not limited to fridges, Henny Penny equipment, fryers, HVAC systems, ice makers, toasters, ice cream machines, ovens, drains, etc.
Building and Facility Stewardship
- Conduct routine inspections of the restaurant’s interior and exterior facilities to identify maintenance, repair, cleanliness, and safety needs.
- Identify minor building repairs and determine when corporate facilities or outside vendors need to be engaged. Lead all communications with outside facilities and vendors with proactive follow-up.
- Monitor and maintain: Drive-Thru canopies and related structures, Walls and other building surfaces requiring repair or paint, Door enclosures and door sweeps, Dumpster enclosures and waste management areas, Dining room seating and fixtures, Interior and exterior lighting, Sidewalks, parking lot and curbs, interior and exterior drains
- Ensure storage areas are organized and appropriately labeled to support efficiency, safety, and accessibility.
Cleanliness and Organization
- Maintain order and cleanliness throughout the interior and exterior of the restaurant, and provide truck and inventory support, as needed.
- Complete routine and deep cleaning of equipment, facilities, and operational areas.
- Help lead quarterly Maintenance Days and restaurant-wide cleaning initiatives.
- Develop and maintain systems that promote organization, cleanliness, and consistent facility standards.
- Delegate appropriate minor cleaning and organization tasks to Team Leaders and Team Members and follow up on completion.
- Identify opportunities to improve cleaning systems, organization, and overall restaurant appearance.
- Ensure all maintenance and cleaning areas are maintained in a safe, organized, and professional condition.
Leadership and Communication
- Communicate with General Managers and Directors, and the Operator, as needed, all daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance priorities, goals, and requirements.
- Communicate maintenance concerns, completed repairs, outstanding needs, and recommendations clearly and consistently.
- Build trust through reliability, follow-through, and consistent ownership of assigned responsibilities
Talent
- Support the training and development of Back of House Maintenance Team Members.
- Provide clear expectations, coaching, and guidance related to cleaning, organization, equipment care, and maintenance procedures.
- Delegate appropriate maintenance and cleaning responsibilities while maintaining accountability for completion and quality.
- Identify opportunities to develop Team Members’ knowledge and skills related to maintenance and facility standards.
- Model safe, organized, and efficient maintenance practices for Team Members.
Financial Stewardship
- Protect company assets by maintaining equipment and facilities appropriately and extending the useful life of restaurant assets.
- Complete preventative maintenance to reduce avoidable equipment failures, operational disruptions, and unnecessary expenses.
- Determine when repairs can appropriately be completed in-house versus when outside technical support or equipment replacement is required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records to support informed repair, replacement, and budgeting decisions.
- Practice responsible stewardship of tools, equipment, supplies, and company resources.
Required Skills and Experience
