Job Description

Your role at Tumi:

  • Read instructions on repair ticket and follow for repairing bag
  • Perform all needed repairs as deemed necessary by inspector (unless otherwise instructed)
  • Perform quality sewing repairs after training period (minimum of 5 bags per day)
  • Operate sewing equipment
  • Operate power tools
  • Inspect bags, paying attention to details of original construction of the bag
  • Reconstruct bag using care to ensure that no damage is caused in the process
  • Assess original configuration of the bag in order to determine the proper technique for reassembly
  • Mark and cut panels using scissors to match pattern or original panel from damaged bag
  • Set up folder attachment as needed to properly attach binding and seam tape
  • Allows proper seam margins and stitch lengths
  • Installs zippers ensuring proper length and placement in order to avoid deconfiguration of the bag.
  • Properly mark drill holes for framers to place handles, screws, speed clips and wheels
  • Attaches web or leather handles and straps
  • Replace zipper sliders
  • Remove damaged hytrel or poly corner guards and replace with new guards
  • Ensure that finished product meets Tumi’s high quality standards
  • Be able to lift, push and pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit for long period of time.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed
