Your Role

Reporting to the Manager and working collaboratively with Victim Services Workers, the Client Support Worker acts as the first point of contact for victims of crime who request support from our offices. This position works in a compassionate, client-centred and culturally responsive way to identify immediate needs, provide crisis response and initial intake. The position will also provide back up to Victim Service Workers in providing court related updates. The Client Support Worker is responsible for client file management within the branch and provides administrative and organizational support to the Victim Services Team.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications.   • Experience supporting and advocating for Yukon First Nation and Canadian Indigenous peoples, the LGBTQI2S+ community, BIPOC peoples, and/or newcomers, with a desired emphasis on knowledge and support for Yukon First Nations communities and individuals
  • Experience providing first point of contact front-line service, particularly in environments where service users may be in crisis.
  • Experience linking/referring clients to other service providers and/or working in collaboration with service partners in support of clients
  • Experience in provision of administrative support such as filing, records management and program documentation

Desired Knowledge, Skills And Suitability

Candidates should have and may be assessed on:

  • Ability to provide initial client contact through phone, written and in person service.
  • Self-awareness combined with strong and tactful interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in order to provide compassionate and dignity preservice service and advocate for victims effectively.
  • Strong organization and administrative skills to effectively support the client services team, and effectively sharing information with the appropriate team members.
  • Ability to provide culturally safe service and commitment to building individual cultural competencies.
  • Experience processing financial requests and transactions that are carried out in accordance with legislation, policy, procedures and/or directives would be an asset.
