- Lead the development and execution of strategic contracting and procurement initiatives for complex, high-value capital projects.
- Provide expert guidance on contract strategy, commercial risk, claims management, negotiations, and procurement best practices.
- Oversee the full procurement lifecycle, including supplier qualification, RFP development, bid evaluation, contract award, and post-award contract administration.
- Lead complex commercial negotiations, contract amendments, dispute resolution, claims, mediation, and arbitration activities.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with project teams, legal counsel, suppliers, and executive stakeholders to ensure successful contract delivery.
- Develop and implement procurement and contracting strategies aligned with project and business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, governance requirements, ethical contracting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Review contractor performance, identify commercial risks, and implement mitigation strategies to protect project objectives.
- Provide strategic commercial advice to executive leadership on contract execution, supplier performance, and procurement risks.
- Lead, mentor, and develop procurement and contracting professionals while promoting a high-performance, collaborative team environment.
- Manage departmental budgets, resource planning, forecasting, and performance reporting.
- Support portfolio planning by translating strategic objectives into departmental execution plans.
- Prepare executive reports, business cases, commercial recommendations, and presentations for senior leadership.
- Foster long-term supplier partnerships and drive continuous improvement in procurement and contract management processes.
- Promote collaboration across multidisciplinary project teams to ensure successful project execution and commercial outcomes.
- Developing collaborative long term strategic agreements and relationships.
- Management of high value procurements and acquisitions in complex services, construction, technology or process based industry.
- Demonstration of managing and working within high performing integrated program or project teams.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, along with the proven ability to mediate and negotiate well.
- Excellent business judgement and savvy with a proven ability to make decisions under pressure that are of high consequence to risk, performance, and budget.
- Demonstrated management skills and experience including resource management, budgeting, planning and reporting, team building and relationship management.
- Strong business ethics and process orientation.
- 10+ years of progressively experience in contracting, procurement and supply chain management, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a senior or lead contracting/ negotiating capacity.
- Extensive experience with Target Cost contracts.
- Significant experience in Procure to Pay processes, Contracting lifecycles, and depending on portfolio, in EPC, Design & Build, Design-Bid-Build and formation of complex, $multi million capital projects or programs.
- A University Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Commerce, Law and/or Economics.
- PMAC, SCMAO, PMP or equivalent are considered assets.
