On behalf of our client, Affinity is looking for a Senior Software Developer – Games who will lead the development of high-performance gaming applications with a strong focus on low-level systems programming in C++. This role requires extensive experience in the game development industry, ideally with large-scale titles from studios such as Take-Two or EA. The developer will be responsible for designing and optimizing rendering pipelines using modern graphics APIs, including Vulkan, OpenGL, DirectX, or Metal, to deliver cutting-edge visuals and seamless gameplay experiences. In addition to technical expertise, this role involves collaborating closely with designers, artists, and other engineers to create scalable, efficient, and visually compelling game systems.
Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing game features and systems, with a focus on high-quality graphics and performance optimization.
- Developing and maintaining system architecture, ensuring seamless integration of graphics technologies.
- Mentoring and guiding the team.
- Documenting the software architecture according to our standards.
- Analyzing, documenting and developing specific modules of the platform.
- Working closely with the product owner and development team for project planning and delivery.
- Suggest new tools to improve our architecture.
- Support the team during project delivery and operations.
- Assisting with on-call rotation when needed
- In-depth experience in game development
- Expertise in graphics APIs like OpenGL, DirectX, Vulkan, or Metal for developing cutting[1]edge rendering pipelines
- Experience with real-time rendering
- Experience working with Linux kernel
- Experience with GPU drivers (Nvidia, AMD)
- 8+ years of development experience with Javascript/Typescript
- Experience with C++
- Strong understanding of the principles of scalable application design;
- Experience working with React + hooks, nodejs and redux frameworks and libs
- Proficient in Front-End web development (React, CSS, HTML);
- Experience using MySQL and understanding database architecture;
- Strong database administration skills (MongoDB, MySQL);
- At least 2 years of experience with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- You are curious and ready to challenge established ideas;
- You have the ability to work in areas outside of your usual comfort zone and get things done quickly;
- You have the ability to collaborate, communicate, learn and ship code, while working in a fast-paced and multi-cultural environment;
- You have at least 8 years of problem solving & software engineering experience;
- Comfortable working in startup environment
