Smurfit Westrock, Mahrt Operations, is currently looking for safe, committed people to join our Paper Mill in Cottonton, AL. Currently, we are looking to fill openings in our Paper Machine Department of the mill.
The Opportunity
Basic Function: To assist other workers in the operation of the Paper Machine and to cut cores.
How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock
Essential functions within the Paper Machine Department will include but not limited to:
- Cut paper cores to proper length as per order and plug appropriate ends
- Load winder cores
- Remove cores from storage area
- Assist in startup of winder under instruction of winder machine operator
- Empty garbage cans and remove wastepaper for proper disposal
- Assist in cleanup of basement during down time
- Empty the vacuum deposit system
Possess a high school diploma or GED
Pass company required written test that includes Rules &Gauges, Numerical Ability, Reading, and Bennett Mechanical aptitude testing. (Testing will be scheduled when candidates are selected)
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to work in a heavy industrial environment
Ability to work rotating shifts (Southern Swing)
Ability to work safely at all times
Possess a solid history of employment
Ability to read to accomplish such tasks as reading reports, gauges, signs, etc.
What We Offer
Mahrt Papermill offers competitive wages and benefits package. The beginning rate is $22.67 per hour with an increase to $28.47 per hour after you have successfully qualified for the position.
Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
