Why Norcross?

Norcross, Georgia (population 18,902) is a city with a distinctive history and a major regional impact. As the second-oldest city in Gwinnett County, it was established in 1869 and originally developed as a small summer resort destination for residents of Atlanta seeking an escape from the city.

Over time, Norcross evolved from a quiet resort destination into a dynamic economic hub with both regional and global influence. Its strategic location and convenient transportation access have made it an attractive destination for domestic and international businesses, employees, and residents alike.

The Opportunity: City Manager

The City Manager oversees the daily operations of the City of Norcross government and ensures that local ordinances, laws, and policies are effectively implemented and upheld. The Norcross City Council consists of a mayor and five council members who are elected at large and serve staggered two-year terms. Together with the City Manager, the council provides leadership and strategic direction for the community.

The City of Norcross operates through 12 departments that work collaboratively to maintain and enhance city services, including the management of its own public power utilities. As a proud member of the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG), Norcross joins 49 other Georgia municipalities in providing reliable public power services.

Norcross is recognized as a Platinum Certified Green Community by the Atlanta Regional Commission, reflecting the city’s strong commitment to sustainability through innovative initiatives, community events, and resident-focused incentive programs.

The City Government of Norcross is dedicated to delivering a high quality of life for its residents by:

  • Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Providing efficient and reliable utilities and public services
  • Supporting economic growth and development
  • Maintaining vibrant, sustainable public spaces

Prefers a collaborative environment where clear expectations guide the team

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensuring staff provide quality service while promoting positive human relations
  • Making key decisions to keep day-to-day operations running smoothly
