The Director of Security (Non-Exempt) oversees shift security operations across multiple Class A commercial buildings. This role ensures all posts are staffed, officers perform to standard, and tenants, visitors, and property assets remain safe and secure. The Supervisor leads by example, providing hands-on support while maintaining a high level of customer service and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise all on-site security personnel (lobby, patrol, access control).
- Ensure post orders are followed correctly.
- Monitor CCTV, alarms and access systems.
- Respond to emergencies (fire alarms, medical, power outages, disturbances).
- Coordinate with police, fire, and EMS when needed.
- Conduct Safety inspections and identify risks.
- Create and manage officer schedules including call-offs, shift coverage, and overtime.
- Ensure officers adhere to post orders, uniform standards, and company policies.
- Conduct performance evaluations, address performance issues and document disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Train and onboarding new officers and provide ongoing coaching.
- Act as main point of contact for tenant/visitors regarding any security issues.
- Maintain a visible and professional presence throughout all assigned properties.
- Respond to tenant concerns, service requests, and security-related issues promptly.
- Ensure officers provide exceptional customer service to tenants, visitors, and vendors.
- Respond to incidents, emergencies, alarms, and disturbances.
- Ensure all incidents are properly documented in detailed, accurate reports.
- Notify management and escalate issues as required.
- Assist with investigations and follow-up actions.
- Work closely with property management and engineering.
- Monitor loading dock activity and vendor access.
- Ensure parking operations (gates, arms, traffic flow) are functioning properly.
- Complete daily activity reports, shift summaries, and incident documentation.
- Assist with timekeeping verification and shift scheduling support.
- Monitor overtime usage and report staffing needs.
- Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures (fire, evacuation, medical, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations, and property standards.
- Identify and report security risks, hazards, or maintenance concerns
- Minimum 21 years of age or older.
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Minimum 2–3 years of security experience, preferably in Class A or commercial real estate environments.
- Previous supervisory or lead officer experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple sites and priorities during a fast-paced shift.
- Proficient in report writing and basic computer systems (incident reporting, access control, CCTV).
- Must be CPR/AED certified or able to obtain certification within 10 day of hire
- Must be Workplace violence trained or able to obtain within 10 day of hire
- Must be Active shooter trained or able to obtain within 10 day of hire
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background and fingerprint investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Experience supervising multi-building or campus-style properties.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
- Military or law enforcement background (a plus).
