End User Systems Support Specialist

What you will achieve in this role:
The End User Systems Support Specialist plays a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations of the organization’s IT infrastructure and end?user technology. This position supports both user onboarding and offboarding processes and contributes to technology recovery and resilience planning.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Technical Support / User Assistance: Provide first level support for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
- Installation & Configuration: Set up new hardware, software, operating systems, and applications.
- Maintenance: Perform updates, vulnerability remediation, and routine system checks.
- Documentation: Maintain records of issues, solutions, assets, and inventory.
System Administration
- Ensure network and server infrastructure is fully operational, secure, and protected from threats.
- Verify data backup status and monitor storage capacity.
- Ensure all workstations and laptops remain operational, secured, and updated.
- Handle hardware setup and software installation for all user devices.
- Perform administrative duties and generate daily reports as needed.
- Support patching and update implementation across servers and user systems.
- Complete additional IT tasks as assigned.
- Ensure appropriate access rights are granted and revoked in a timely manner.
- Assist users with access requests and provide guidance on proper system usage.
- Assist in coordinating and performing local recovery tests.
- Help ensure backups, hardware, and software required for recovery tests are fully maintained.
- Contribute to maintaining and updating the organization’s technology recovery procedures.
- Adhere to all internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements as communicated by the Compliance function.
- Internal: Collaborate with staff across the local office and IT team members in other locations as required.
- External: Coordinate with software/hardware vendors and service providers for equipment, repairs, and technical information.
- Work involves both workstation and server?related tasks (approx. 60% PC, 40% server).
- Occasional exposure to deadline pressure and a variety of support demands.
- Requires bending, crawling under desks, and lifting IT equipment such as monitors and printers.
- Open?office environment.
What you must bring to this role:
Knowledge & Education
- Post?secondary education in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft server and client operating systems.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Active Directory, SCCM, VMware vSphere, and infrastructure components like UPS systems and HVAC monitoring.
- Minimum five years of experience as a Systems Administrator or Desktop Support Analyst.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Strong problem?solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues quickly.
- Excellent communication skills to support non?technical users.
- Strong time?management skills and ability to handle multiple requests simultaneously.
- High attention to detail.
