We are currently recruiting compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistants to work within a specialist education setting supporting young adults aged 19-30 years with a range of complex learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
This is a highly rewarding role for individuals who are passionate about supporting others and helping learners access education while maintaining their dignity, wellbeing, and independence.
The Role
As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting learners with their daily personal care needs, mobility, and overall wellbeing throughout the school day. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff, you will help create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment where learners can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing personal care support, including toileting, changing, and hygiene assistance where required.
- Supporting learners with feeding and mealtime routines.
- Assisting with mobility, transfers, and positioning in line with individual care plans.
- Promoting independence and encouraging learners to develop life skills wherever possible.
- Supporting learners during classroom activities and educational sessions.
- Monitoring learner wellbeing and reporting any concerns to the appropriate staff members.
- Building positive and trusting relationships with learners while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support teams.
- Previous experience in care, support work, healthcare, education, or a similar setting is desirable but not essential.
- A caring, patient, and empathetic nature.
- Confidence supporting individuals with complex needs and disabilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and young people.
- Willingness to provide personal care support as part of the role.
