Main Purpose of Job
The Kids Like Us (KLU) Counselor is responsible for implementation of all components of the Kids Like Us program. Duties include use of independent judgement and analysis in collaboration with public school counselors and program implementation with fidelity; including school-based and community-based supportive counseling groups for youth ages 8 to 18, program evaluation, annual art show implementation, trainings, and community outreach.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of professional experience in assisting in the coordination of a health-related program(s) or referring people to governmental and private resources.
Notes
- Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health-related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
The desired candidate should possess the following:
- Experience working with youth in a clinical setting.
- Administrative staff or professional work experience.
- A degree in a helping profession such as Social Work, Counseling, Art Therapy, or Psychology.
