ABOUT THE NBPA: The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) is the union for current professional basketball players in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Established in 1954, the NBPA’s mission is to protect and advance the rights of our players. They are the game.

The NBPA advocates on behalf of the best interests of all NBA players, including through the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, the filing of grievances on behalf of the players, and counseling players on benefits and educational and post-NBA career opportunities. POSITION OVERVIEW: The NBPA Foundation is seeking a personable and highly motivated intern to support our team with day-to-day operations and special projects. This internship is ideal for someone looking to launch their career in sports philanthropy while gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit research, grant making, and player support services.

LOCATION: New York City, NY

DURATION: June 8th – August 14th

RATE: $26

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an organized system for tracking, monitoring, and prioritizing tasks and projects
  • Collect, compile, and update data and information pertaining to players and their philanthropic endeavors
  • Support research on the philanthropic engagement of NBA players with organizations and causes, including their roles as ambassadors, spokespeople, advocates, and funders—even if they occur outside of grant programs
  • Conduct social media research and assist in developing communications content for multiple audiences
  • Assist with other special projects and duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Undergraduate (Junior/Senior) or Graduate student 
  • Experience with Microsoft suite programs and CRMs (Salesforce, preferred) 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment 
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Proactive and able to move projects forward without daily contact with team members 
  • Curiosity and interest in social impact issues
