Rate of Pay: $34.51 per hour
The start date will follow the selection process.
Main Function: Responsible to supervise the activities of a crew.
Characteristic Duties: Under the general supervision of a Foreperson.
- Responsible for overseeing the activities of a crew engaged in minor construction and maintenance projects.
- Required to do light work along with overseeing the crew.
- Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education and Training:
- Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
- Minimum of five (5) years satisfactory related experience.
- Must be capable of overseeing a crew on maintenance and minor construction.
- Must have proven ability to operate efficiently, all types of small equipment employed on minor construction and maintenance projects, such as tapping equipment, compressors, compaction equipment, etc.
- Must be able to exercise sound judgement in cases of emergency.
- Must be able to effectively complete C.M.M.S. Crew Cards.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, staff and outside agencies in a courteous and effective manner.
- Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
- Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
- May require the use of a CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver's licence and have an acceptable driving record.
Development opportunity rate of pay: $32.78 per hour. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced rate until the minimum qualifications have been met.
