Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly

Shift Work Required: Shift work may be required

Rate of Pay: $34.51 per hour

The start date will follow the selection process.

Main Function: Responsible to supervise the activities of a crew.

Characteristic Duties: Under the general supervision of a Foreperson.

Responsible for overseeing the activities of a crew engaged in minor construction and maintenance projects.
Required to do light work along with overseeing the crew.
Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Training:

Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years satisfactory related experience.

Other Requirements

Must be capable of overseeing a crew on maintenance and minor construction.
Must have proven ability to operate efficiently, all types of small equipment employed on minor construction and maintenance projects, such as tapping equipment, compressors, compaction equipment, etc.
Must be able to exercise sound judgement in cases of emergency.
Must be able to effectively complete C.M.M.S. Crew Cards.
Demonstrate interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, staff and outside agencies in a courteous and effective manner.
Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
May require the use of a CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver's licence and have an acceptable driving record.

This job is also being posted as a development opportunity. Should there be no fully qualified candidate for this position, a candidate who can be expected to meet the required qualifications within a reasonable period of time may be considered for this position as a development opportunity.

Development opportunity rate of pay: $32.78 per hour. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced rate until the minimum qualifications have been met.
