Position Overview
The Event Sales Manager (ESM) is a strategic leader responsible for driving event-related revenue and client relationships for Death & Co (D&C) and Close Company (CC). The ESM will ensure outstanding event sales performance, foster strong client partnerships, and plan high-visibility events that align with D&C and CC brand pillars as well as the Company’s brand standards.
The ESM will effectively guide clients through event experiences, identifying solutions that meet their goals and objectives, resulting in a compelling and seamless event experience.
The ESM is responsible for executing sales initiatives for Gin & Luck (G&L) with guidance from the Executive Team.
Reporting Lines:
- The ESM reports directly to the Senior Director of Brand (SDB)
- The ESM works collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Chief Operating Officer (COO), Vice President of Operations-B&M Venues (VPOB&MV), Vice President of Operations-Product (VPOP), Senior Director of Operations-Close Company (SDO), Senior Director of Operations-Death & Co (SDO) and the Marketing Manager (MM)

- Develop and execute an event sales strategy that targets social events, corporate functions, and private functions for D&C and CC venues
- Collaborate with VPOB&MV and SDOs to set annual event sales goals and monitor performance
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities, third-party planners, luxury social clients, partnerships, and third-party planners
- Track market trends and competitive activity to optimize pricing, packaging, and sponsorship opportunities
- Execute sales initiatives for G&L Consulting Services, G&L Membership Program, Fashioned, and general sponsorship opportunities; priorities will shift based on Company priorities and direction will be provided by the CEO, COO and VPOP.
- Serve as the lead sales contact for event clients, guiding them through the planning process from inquiry through execution, and ensuring exceptional service
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with clients and planners
- Anticipate client needs and provide proactive consultative selling, matching event design and culinary solutions to client objectives
- Oversee contract negotiations, deposits, billing, and follow-up communications
- Works to continually improve client experience by integrating personal judgment and obtained feedback ---e.g., product quality, service levels, etc., into action plans
- Follows up with client post-event; responds to and handles client problems and complaints

○ Serve as a liaison between client and operational teams to ensure logistics, menus, staffing, and service standards are clearly communicated and executed
- Oversight
■ Monitor event timelines, manage last-minute adjustments, and resolve client or operational issues proactively
■ Gather and debrief client feedback post-event, implement lessons learned and identify potential follow-up or repeat business
○ Financial & Reporting
■ Assist the VPOB&MV with the development of event forecasts, pricing strategies, and revenue projections in alignment with annual targets
■ Monitor event budgets, expenses, and vendor contracts, ensuring profitability and cost controls
■ Track and reconcile service fees and employee event earnings, ensuring accurate reporting and timely submission to Payroll
■ Provide regular reporting on event sales performance, pipeline, booking pace, and forecast to the VPOB&MV, SDB and SDOs
Activations
- Collaborate with VPOP and SDB to vet Activations for brand value
- Collaborate with VPOP and SDB to define External Activation annual goals and cadence
- Manage logistics and coordination for External Activations
- Collaborate with VPOP, SDB, and SDO’s to assemble Activation Post Mortem
- Ensure product and brand standards are consistent throughout the event planning and activation process
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment with brand goals
- Protect long-term brand value by ensuring all event offerings embody G&L’s vision of hospitality, creativity, and excellence

- 2+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a multi-faceted organization
- 2+ years of proven event sales experience, preferably in the restaurant or hospitality industry
- Highest levels of EQ and discretion
- Proven track record driving event sales, revenue growth, and large-scale event bookings in a luxury environment
- Solid understanding of event planning, catering logistics, and client relationship management
- Experience negotiating event contracts, managing deposits, and building event proposals
- Excellent communication, presentation, and consultative sales skills
- Managed/Created events and activations decks
- Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and detailed event execution oversight
- Knowledge of luxury service standards and high-touch hospitality expectations
- Proficiency with event sales and CRM systems, and Google Workspace
- Strong project management skills and focus-tasking abilities to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Experience with budgeting management and contract management
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively with remote team members
- Flexibility in working hours, including early mornings and evenings; ability to travel as required

- 4-year degree from an accredited university in a related program
- 3+ years of Event Sales experience in Luxury Hospitality
- 3+ years of Management level experience
- Working knowledge of project management principals

Compensation range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000 base salary + commission. Medical, dental, vision, and life are included in our benefits package for full-time/part-time employees. Eligible to participate in the company 401(k) program after a set vesting period commencing after the first day of work; the company does not match contributions currently.
