Position: Engineering Problem Designer

Type: Independent Contractor

Compensation: $60–$80/hour

Location: Remote

Duration: Approximately 2 months

Commitment: 20–40 hours/week

Role Responsibilities

  • Design original, advanced engineering problems requiring creative reasoning and multi-domain integration.
  • Evaluate AI-generated engineering solutions for technical accuracy and adherence to constraints.
  • Identify logical gaps and incorrect modeling assumptions.
  • Provide well-documented solutions using LaTeX for equations and schematics.
  • Maintain high standards of technical precision and conceptual depth.
  • Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines while improving AI model performance.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Advanced degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, aerospace, or chemical engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing or grading complex analytical problems.
  • Participation in or mentorship for engineering competitions.
  • Research or teaching experience in applied problem formulation.
  • Proficiency in LaTeX for technical document formatting.

Preferred

  • Deep understanding of core engineering principles and real-world systems.
  • Ability to communicate step-by-step reasoning and assumptions clearly.
  • Strong intuition for problem difficulty and conceptual progression.
  • Detail-oriented verification of results and internal consistency.

Start Date

  • Rolling onboarding; start typically within 1–2 days after approval.
