JOB SUMMARY:

Our group is experiencing an exciting period of tremendous growth and we are looking for an Associate, Operations and Compliance to support and execute on our strategic goals to support that growth. The companies within our group each have independent operations but must function harmoniously in order to execute on our strategic vision.

This is where you come in – working with the Operations and Compliance team, you will have the opportunity to serve a critical function in facilitating our operational and compliance requirements as we expand our business in Canada and beyond. You will be responsible for supporting and executing critical initiatives in corporate operations, governance, controls, and compliance for Chelsea Avondale and its affiliates.



Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the Operations and Compliance team to help facilitate ongoing regulatory, corporate administration, operations, and compliance projects across the Chelsea Avondale group.
  • Working closely with the group’s complaints handling team to help facilitate escalations and support related regulatory inquiries.
  • Organizing and maintaining the group’s compliance tracking systems, and assisting with the preparation of monthly compliance reports for presentation to Senior Management.
  • Assisting with research for, and preparation of, regulatory & compliance filings for entities in multiple jurisdictions, including: annual government filings, filings with insurance regulators, anti-money laundering filings, economic substance filings, legal and KYC requests.
  • Researching legal inquiries, compliance & regulatory requirements, and business process improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinating with the group’s external legal counsel, professional advisors and other third parties to fulfil various corporate strategy objectives and administrative requirements, such as updating the group’s organizational charts, corporate register of members / shareholders, register of directors & officers, foundational corporate documents, etc.
  • Supporting with other ad-hoc corporate strategy and/or compliance activities (as necessary).


Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration (or a related field)
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience working in a similar capacity.
  • Experience in the insurance and/or a comparable regulated financial services industry is an asset.
  • Self-starter, taking ownership and initiative to ensure your work gets done.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong attention to detail, even in the face of complex problems.
  • Excellent time-management skills, to ensure assignments are appropriately completed on time in the face of varying deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – this role requires clear communication and an ability to articulate findings & solutions coherently and concisely.
  • Professionalism – think critically about tasks assigned and communicate with business leaders / third parties to drive projects forward, without hesitation in appropriately raising questions that may arise.
  • Excellent critical thinking and judgement skills.
  • Highly collaborative and detail oriented.
  • Accepting of feedback and flexible in actioning feedback received.
  • Eager to learn.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe programs including Word, Excel, and Acrobat.
